Donna Sue Patton Dartez
Fred Lou Mason
Mrs. Donna Sue Dartez of Counce, Tenn., passed away April 18, 2014 in Jackson, Tenn. She is survived by her husband Mark Dartez, her mother Bessie Patton, three sons; Chris Tilley of Adamsville, Tenn., Randall Tilley, and Charlie Tilley (Heather) both of Jackson, Tenn., one sister; Brenda Patton (Ronnie Steed) of Jackson, S.C.; two brothers, Karl Patton of Warrenville, S.C., and Chris Patton (Gwen) of Williston, S.C. and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Earl Patton, and by her brother, Earl Patton. There was a celebration of her life on Monday, April 21, 2014 in Jackson, S.C. George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Jackson, Tenn.
Home Going for Fred Lou Mason. Fred Lou Mason was born to Ms. Lonnie Mae Mason on September 22, 1926. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the McNairy County Healthcare Center in Selmer, Tenn. He was a hard worker and was employed at Corinth Head Start, Independence Printing Company and the Cotton Seed Gin. He also was a lead singer in a gospel quartet group that traveled many places singing for the glory of God. Mr. Mason was baptized on April 1, 2014 in “Jesus Name” by Bishop Ferdinand Gant at New Jerusalem Faith Apostolic Church in Selmer, Tenn. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ms. Lonnie Mae Mason; two daughters, Mattie Mae Gunn of Corinth, MS and Lillie Mae Hayslett of Selmer, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Alice Gunn and John Neal Jr. of Corinth, MS; a brother-in-law, John Chandler of Memphis, Tenn.. Mr. Mason leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and faithful wife, Rosie Lee Brown Mason; two sons, John Neal of Corinth, MS and James A. Hunt of Selmer, Tenn.; a sister, Alice Chandler of Memphis, Tenn.; three nieces, Belinda (Arthur) Mason, Freida (George) Jones, and Sheila Taylor all of Memphis, Tenn.; eleven grandchildren, Elisher Irons, Vannis Gunn, Mattie Gunn, Marcus Neal, Celia Neal, Matthew Neal, Michael Neal, George Hayslett, Walter Hayslett, Patricia Westbrooks (Steve), and Thomas Hayslett; 20 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. All held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, Bishop Ferdinand Gant officiated. Burial followed in the Prospect Cemetery at Selmer, Tennessee.
Donald L. Graham Donald L. Graham, of Adamsville, Tenn., was born on July18, 1929, at home in White County, Illinois to Clyde Graham and Edith (Pollard) Graham. He was the second of six children born into that family. They survived the hard years of the depression by farming and selling their produce and eggs. Don attended various small country schools before graduating in 1946 from Albion High School in Albion, IL. Shortly after graduation while working as a diesel mechanic for Oilfield Motor Service, he was drafted into the United States Army to serve in combat in the Korean War. He served with distinction from December, 1950, to September, 1952, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. On January 24, 1953 he married Ann Kloepper of Cora, Illinois. Together they shared 61 years and had two daughters and a son. Don developed two successful businesses in Grayville. He was the owner of Graham Insurance and Real Estate and the president of Petro-Halogen Corporation, an oil and gas exploration company. During his entrepreneurial years, Don served as the President of the Grayville Chamber of Commerce. Don was a committed member of his church, which was Full Gospel Church during his years in Grayville, IL, and more recently Love and Truth Church in Savannah, Tenn. He was an avid hunter and golfer, and he loved supporting his hometown sports teams. Don passed from this life on Monday, April 14, 2014 in Jackson, Tenn. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a brother, Dellas Graham. He is survived by his wife Ann L. Graham of Adamsville, Tenn.; two daughters, Jan Melton and husband, Rob of Evansville, IL, Sherri Cupples and husband, Eddie, of Jackson, Tenn.; a son, Scott Graham and wife, Michelle, of Florissant, MO; five grandchildren, Ashley Cupples-Lee and husband, Adam, Meagan Melton, Zac Cupples, Jeremy Graham, Jessica Graham; a great-grandchild, Graham Lee; a sister, Ava Walker of Lawrenceville, IL; three brothers, Densil Graham and wife, Gail, of Grayville, IL, Ret. Col. Bobby Graham and wife, Shirley, of Centerville, GA, Larry Graham and wife, Jean, of Gold Canyon, AZ. Services were held on April 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville with Bill Luther and Philip Meek officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Grayville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Love and Truth Church, Building Fund, P. O. Linda Martin Linda Martin was born May 9, 1946 in McNairy County, Tenn., the daughter of the late Jobie Millard and Vonnie Dee Robertson James. She was united in marriage to Roy Martin on June 7, 1967. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker. She loved listening to country music, reading the Bible and she especially enjoyed spending time with her g r a n d d a u g h t e r, Honey Pie. She was a member of the Olive Hill Baptist Church in Guys, Tennessee. Mrs. Martin departed this life on April 19, 2014 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 67 years, 11 months, 10 days. She is survived by her husband, Roy Martin of Ramer, Tenn.; a daughter, Sandy (Martin) Comer and husband, Ricky of Rienzi, MS; a granddaughter, Lindsay (Comer) Ford and husband, Jeremy of Rienzi, MS; four sisters, Imogene Jernagin of Guys, Tenn., Anita Butler of Eastview, Tenn., Doris Kirk of Ramer, Tenn., Donna Childers of Ramer, Tenn.; special family friends, Kathy Meeks, Andy Meeks, George Martin, hospice staff of Jackson Madison County General Hospital and the nurses on the 9th floor; and a host of extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by two sisters, Lavern Robertson, Dean Meeks; a brother, Clyde James; niece, Jessica Childers; nephew, Donald Meeks. Services were held on April 22, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, with Jetta Forsythe officiating. Burial followed in the Olive Hill Cemetery at Guys, Tennessee.
Robert Monty Tennyson Robert Monty (Montez) Tennyson was born December 29, 1949 in Selmer, Tenn., the son of the late Estle and Mary Lou Baker Tennyson. Mr. Tennyson worked 15 years for Thyssen Krupp Elevator Company in Middleton, Tenn. He served his Country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Tennyson enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Selmer Moose Lodge, where he served as Junior Governor, and the Southern Bass Anglers. Mr. Tennyson was a former member of the Selmer Jaycees, and attended Selmer First Baptist Church. Mr. Tennyson departed this life on April 20, 2014 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 64 years, 3 months, 22 days. He is survived by two sons, Clint Tennyson of Medon, Tenn. and Blake Tennyson of Pinson, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Aspen Donte Tennyson and Jeannie Melise Tennyson; three brothers: Donnie Tennyson of Bolivar, Tenn., Lloyd Tennyson of Selmer, Tenn., and Charles Tennyson of Savannah, Tenn.; two sisters, Mary Jo Ellis and Rochell Rash, both of Ramer, Tenn.; and many extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tennyson was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilborn Tennyson and infant Bobby Lynn Tennyson. Services will be held on April 23, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, Tennessee, with Richard Doyle officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Selmer, Tennessee. Serving as pallbearers are Chad Cardwell, Brandon Hall, Jeff Tennyson, Marvin Wilson, Larry Perkins, Thomas Miller.

Melba Reed Shelby Melba Reed Shelby, age 91, died peacefully, after an extended stay at Maplewood Nursing Home in Jackson, Tenn. on April 17, 2014. A native of Scotts Hill, she spent most of her married life in Selmer where she was active as a homemaker and secretary deeply involved in The United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and American Legion Auxilary. Her husband, Edward, died in 2009. She leaves one cherished daughter, Joy Shelby Weathersbee (Dan), and three beloved grandchildren: Isaac, Shelby and Will. Visitation was at First United Methodist Church in Selmer, Tenn. at 2 p.m. on Easter Sunday with the funeral at 3:30 p.m. Burial was at 5:30 p.m. at the Liberty UMC Cemetery in Scotts Hill, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Selmer First United Methodist Church.
Doris Dean Rhinehart Mrs. Doris Dean Rhinehart, age 77, died on April 13, 2014 in Dickson, Tenn. Born March 21, 1937 in Selmer, Tenn., daughter of the late Lloyd Cox and Bessie Lou Maness Cox. She attended school in Selmer and services at the First Baptist Church of Selmer. For a long period of time, Doris lived in Jackson, Tenn., where she attended services at the Englewood Baptist Church. Recently, she resided in Dickson County where she attended services at the First Baptist Church of Dickson. Survived by husband, James Edward “Jim” Rhinehart of Dickson; daughters, Linda McClain of Dickson, Cindy Johnson of Selmer, Theresa “Che Che” Sadler and her husband, Mike of Jackson; son, Thom Mullen of Arcadia, FL; sisters, Dottie Wolfe of Arkansas, Beverly “Bevy” Sowell of Stantonville; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her family fulfilled her request to be cremated and a memorial service was held Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, Tenn.
