That’sawraponsummer2023atMorgan’sWonderlandCamp(MWC).This summer,atMWC,wewelcomedover1,600guestsfromallaroundtheU.S.and somefromdifferentcountries.Andyouknowwhatthatmeans,over1,600ooey gooeydeliciouss’moreswereservedthissummer!
Alongwiththedeliciouss’mores,ourcampershadablastcatchingupwithold campfriends,meetingnewfriends,hittingtheirfirstbullseyeatarchery, conqueringtheirfearofheightsonourzipline,hangingoutwithourcuddly(and slithery)animalfriendsatTheStockyard,andsomuchmore.

Meet our WIN Manager, Jana Henriquez
JanaHenriquezhasbeenrecentlyhiredasthe ManagerforthenewWorkforceInclusionNetwork (WIN)atTheMultiAssistanceCenteratMorgans Wonderland,scheduledtobeopenQ4of2023.
JanawasbornandraisedintheRioGrandeValley.She wasemployedwithBucknerChildrenFamilyServices andservedinworkinginthecommunitywith vulnerablechildrenandfamilies.Herpassiontoserve thecommunityledhertorelocatetoSanAntonio,TXwhereshewashiredasa vocationalrehabilitationcounselorwiththeStateofTexas.Janahasaheartto impactthecommunityandhasaclearunderstandingoftheimportanceof employment.Herstrongbeliefindevelopingstrongpositiverelationshipsboth professionallyandpersonallydriveshertoexpandmeaningfulinclusive employmentopportunitiesintoday’sworkforce.

WearehonoredtohavetheSanAntonioFireDepartmentasaformal,partnerin supportingourmissionofinclusion.
FireChiefCharlesHoodwiththeSanAntonioFireDepartment(SAFD),alongwith otherdepartmentChiefsandrepresentatives,visitedTheMACtoreceivea formaltourandvisitwithTheMACLeadershipteam.SAFDwillworkdirectlywith ourMACMembersinevaluatingthesafetyoftheirhomes,ensuringtheyhave evacuationplans,operatingsmokealarms,andfireextinguishers.
Thispartnershipiscriticalinensuringthesafetyandwell-beingofour communityduringemergencies.

TheTexasRegionalgameswereheldMay4ththrough7th,andMorgan’s WonderlandSportswasapivotalpartofitssuccess!Thegamesservedmore than200athleteswithphysicaldisabilitiesandvisualimpairments.Morgan’s WonderlandandMorgan’sWonderlandSportshostedeightsportingevents,all coordinatedandmanagedbyourstaff,incollaborationwithTexasRegional ParaSportsandMoveUnited. Power Soccer Season
PowerSoccerseasonstartsinSeptemberasweprepareforourfirstcompetition inHoustoninNovember.AsamemberoftheUnitedStatesPowerSoccer Association,wecompeteacrossthecountrytoqualifyfornationalsinJune2024.
PowerSoccerisasportforpeoplewithphysicaldisabilitiesthatutilizesapower chairtomaneuverasoccerballaroundtoscoreagoal.
