First Death Anniversary of Fr. MC Mathew

17 July, Kolkata: “Tough moments do not last, tough people do…,” were the opening remarks of Fr. Joseph Pauria, the Provincial of Kolkata, on the First death anniversary of Fr. MC Mathew, SDB. The Holy Eucharist which was telecasted live from Don Bosco Nitika chapel was attended by family members, Salesians and online participants.

Fr. Biju Michael, the Regional Superior along with few fathers, sisters and brother were present in the chapel. Fr. Provincial also presented the Obituary booklet of Fr. MC Mathew. “We can summarize Fr. Mathew in Five words,” he said, “…A Man of Action, of Energy, of Drive, of Conviction and of Courage…” as he elaborated these in his personal experience with Fr. MC Mathew.

After the Holy eucharist, the office of the dead was chanted in Malayalam in solidarity with the family members who were present for the occasion online.

First death anniversary of COVID 19’s first Priest victim, Fr. A.C Joseph

19 July, Kolkata: The First death anniversary of COVID 19’s first Salesian priest victim, was celebrated here at Don Bosco Nitika in the presence of Fathers, brother, sisters, laity of Nitika catholic community along with virtual participants.

Provincial, Fr. Joseph Pauria, celebrated the Holy Eucharist assisted by Deacon Amit Xess. Fr. Pauria remembering him, highlighted his love for the poor, especially the marginalized, his faith in the Eucharistic presence of the Lord and the time he would spend with the Lord in the chapel every afternoon. He also released the obituary booklet prepared by Fr. Mathew George.

“A Cannoist, a Charismatic Healer and the father of the poor,” who gave his last breath for the poor people feeding them and taking care of them in covid times.

In solidarity with the family members of Fr. AC Joseph, Fr. IC Jacob led the Syrian office of dead in Malayalam after the Eucharist.

Fr. K.A. Thomas remembered on his First Death Anniversary

3 August, Kolkata: Champion of Bengali Education among Salesians of Kolkata, Fr. KA Thomas, was remembered by the Provincial House community on

his first death anniversary here at Don Bosco Nitika Chapel.

Fr. Sunil Kerketta, the Vice-Provincial of the Province of Kolkata presided over the Holy Eucharist, in the presence of 11 fathers, 3 Brothers and 2 sisters, along with virtual participants. During the Homily, Fr. Vice Provincial released the Obituary booklet of Fr. K.A. Thomas and reminisced about his initial years of formation as a boy and later as a brother which formed him as a true and committed Salesian.

“Br. Thomas…work for the Glory of God, for your own salvation and salvation of others,” were the words of his Vocation Promoter Fr. Doro, a missionary from Italy. These words of Fr. Doro enthused young Br. Thomas, who worked for the education of poor youth until his death at the age of 87.

In communion with his relatives and family members who participated in the Holy Eucharist online, fathers chanted the Divine office for the dead in Malayalam.

Fr. Reji remembered on his first death annivarsary

16 August, Kolkata: Fr. Rejinald D’silva, a vibrant missionary among the Adivasi’s of North Bengal was remembered today on his First death anniversary here at Don Bosco Liluah Parish Church. In the presence of Salesians, Cooperators and past pupils, Fr. VL Francis presided over the Holy Eucharist.

Fr. Regi spend his last days in Don Bosco Liluah, before returning to his father’s abode on 16 August 2020.

A lone Marathi speaking missionary from Maharashtra, Fr. Reji, spend most of his time meeting and visiting families among the tea gardens of Siliguri and Jalpaiguri.

INC reminisces Fr. VD Mathew on his First Death Anniversary

30 September, Kolkata: Fr. VD Mathew, the ever cheerful Salesian, was remembered today on his first death anniversary here at Don Bosco Park Circus Chapel.

Fr. Joy Parapillay, the Rector welcomed the gathering of lay people, sisters and Salesian family members for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Fr. Joseph Pauria, the provincial, presided over the Holy Eucharist along with 15 other priests.

Fr. Joseph Pauria remembering Fr. VD Mathew, recalls him, as a cheerful and smiling Salesian. A vibrant missionary and pastor among the Bengali speaking community. ‘Our lady of Chandabagh,’ says Fr. Pauria, ‘is the name Fr. VD gave to statue of Mother Mary after the blessing of the statue at Chandabagh farm in Azimganj, portrays a lot about Fr. VD’s love and devotion for Mother Mary,’ he adds.

Fr. Provincial released the obituary booklet of Fr. VD Mathew which was given to those who were present for the occasion.

Fr. VD Mathew spend his last days in Mama Margaret House, Aluva, where he breathed his last on 30 September, 2020.
