As antigas rua José Maria Marques e rua Dr. Carvalho compõem atualmente a Avenida Presidente Nicolau Lobato, onde coexistem estabelecimentos de comércio (fig. 80) e outros serviços (fig. 78 & 79).

The old street José Maria Marques and Street Dr. Carvalho currently make up the Avenida Presidente Nicolau Lobato, where there are commercial establishments (fig. 80) and other services (fig. 78 & 79).
A avenida acolhe edifícios governamentais, nomeadamente uma secretaria de estado e uma embaixada, ambas instaladas em edifícios construídos antes de 1975. A meio do troço correspondente à antiga rua José Maria Marques, encontram-se duas instituições bancárias respetivamente herdadas do período português e indonésio. A antiga rua Dr. Carvalho reúne vários estabelecimentos hoteleiros e de restauração, bem como dois espaços culturais (Casa Europa e Fundação Oriente) acomodados em construções do período português.

The Avenue host’s government buildings, including a secretary of state and an embassy, both installed in buildings built before 1975. The middle section of the corresponding old street José Maria Marques, are respectively two banking institutions inherited from the Portuguese and Indonesian period. The old street Dr. Carvalho brings together various hotel and catering establishments, as well as two cultural venues (Casa Europe and the Orient Foundation) accommodated in buildings of the Portuguese period.
