In Kingdom Kids, children will: • Hear the Gospel story in child-friendly language • Engage in worship through music • Learn the Lord’s Prayer Children are dropped off right before the service at the Kingdom Kids classroom, located downstairs in the Education building, room 102, on the west side of the Great Hall. At the appropriate time they will be led into the traditional & contemporary services so that you may worship together as a family during the celebration of Holy Communion. Parents may also choose to let their 3–5 year olds stay in the nursery during Communion by indicating at check-in. Volunteers are needed at both hours and serve once every 4–6 weeks. RYAN WALLER YOUNG ADULTS MINISTER RWALLER@INCARNATION.ORG 214.521.5101 @RYANCASEYWALLER FATHER PAUL WHEATLEY ASSISTANT RECTOR OF YOUNG ADULT FORMATION PWHEATLEY@INCARNATION.ORG
Our parish has a vibrant and growing community of young adults active throughout our church life. Whether you grew up going to Incarnation, or this is your first Sunday, there are opportunities for you to meet other young adults, grow in your faith, and serve in the life of our church and in the world around us. For years, our social events, “Conversations” series, and weekly Sunday School class have been consistently well–attended, successful programs where young adults have been able to make friends and grow deeper in their faith. We are continuing to build on this great foundation in several ways. We are ever seeking to expand our Young Adults’ small groups and this spring will be no different. We will be launching new groups and celebrating and encouraging the growth of our existing groups.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” — Matthew 22:37–39 At Incarnation, we believe that the heart of the Christian life is a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. And because God first loved us by reaching out to us in Christ, we reach out to others in love as well. Jesus taught that when we serve our neighbors— even something as small as giving a child a cup of water—we’re serving Christ too, and growing closer to Him. As the body of Christ, we seek to be God’s hands and feet in the world, putting the love of Jesus into action all around us.

LECTIONARY BIBLE STUDY Dr. Tim Ralston Wednesdays, 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. • Dining Room
From earliest times (inherited from the synagogue and Christ’s own practice) the Church has had the Bible placed before it in an orderly way. Concern for understanding the Bible’s own internal relationships; hearing it in a comprehensive way; and guarding some sense of the narrative line (especially of the Gospels) have been the hallmarks of how the Bible has been presented in the church. Preaching in the context of Sunday worship takes its bearing from this presentation, but the lessons as chosen reflect certain important relationships that are best understood through teaching and explication. Join us for a time of study of the Bible in the Presentation of the Church. All are welcome and please bring your Bibles (RSV translation preferred).
A STUDY OF ROMANS
Robert Perkins Thursdays at 9 a.m. • Family Ministries Room An expository study of the Epistle to the Romans. Come join us as we grow together through the study of the Holy Scriptures, given to us through the Church. Please bring your Bible.
“IN THE FULLNESS OF TIME…” THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST. MATTHEW Dr. Carl R. Anderson Tuesdays, Noon – 1 p.m. • The Flat
For nearly two thousand years, the Gospel of St. Matthew has been preeminent among Christians. As the most comprehensive account of the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth, Matthew focuses on the fulfillment of Old Testament promises and prophecies concerning Christ.

CONNECTING SUNDAY WORSHIP TO MONDAY WORK BY TOM NELSON
Striking a balance between theological depth and practical counsel, Tom Nelson outlines God’s purposes for work in a way that helps us to make the most of our vocation and to join God in his work in the world. Discover a new perspective on work that will transform your workday and make the majority of your waking hours matter, not only now, but for eternity. Alesha LeBlanc at aleblanc@incarnation.org What’s a Growth Group? In any given week, there are small groups of people from our church that meet together in their homes all around the city. Their purpose? Spiritual growth, fellowship, and fun! If you want to get connected at Incarnation and develop deep friendships with other Christians, dive deeper into the life of our church by joining a Growth Group. Beginning the week of January 26th, Incarnation is starting a new Growth Group initiative called “Work Matters: Finding God’s calling in your day job.” Check it out! ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES SUNDAY MORNINGS AT 10:20 – 11:05 A.M. THE COST OF NON-DISCIPLESHIP: CAN YOU AFFORD IT? David and Cynthia Krause • Room 114, across from the Outreach office
The call to follow Christ is neither a call to be religious nor a call to be a church member, though we may be both. This study is about discipleship: what it is and how we can take specific steps to grow in it; and it is about how empty our lives are—for ourselves and others— when we fail to grow as disciples. We will base our study on two classics which will hopefully draw us to follow Christ more fully: Dallas Willard’s The Spirit of the Disciplines: Understanding How God Changes Lives, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Letters and Papers from Prison. Willard, a respected and longtime professor in the philosophy department at the University of Southern California, gives us concrete ways to learn and grow in the disciplines of discipleship. Bonhoeffer, a German pastor who was executed by the Nazis in 1945 for his complicity in the plot to assassinate Hitler, is perhaps one of the most dramatic modern examples of surrendering all to follow Christ. Please join the journey toward a deeper discipleship in following Christ, our Lord.
GOD’S PLAN OF THE AGES A PANORAMIC VIEW OF GOD’S DEALING WITH MANKIND Robert Perkins • Dining Room
This class will take a panoramic view of God’s dealings with mankind throughout history – past, present and future. It will demonstrate the continuity and relationship of events through which God declares His sovereignty and exercises His dominion over His creation. Particular emphasis will be placed on His methods, means and purposes in bringing about His plans and His will for all of mankind. 20

ON THE CANTERBURY TRAIL: AN INTRODUCTION TO CHRISTIAN BELIEF, THE SACRAMENTS, WORSHIP, AND THE LIFE OF PRAYER Fr. Paul Wheatley & Jacob Bottom • Choir Room
Adult Baptism and/or Confirmation Preparation “On the Canterbury Trail” is the class we encourage everyone at our parish to take, especially those who are new to Incarnation. During the semester, we will explore three major topics: the basic teachings and beliefs of the Christian Church (including what it means to be a Christian); the Sacraments and worship life of the Church, with particular attention to the Anglican/Episcopal tradition and our history; and the life of prayer that God intends and desires for every Christian and the tools and teaching given by the Church to assist us in knowing the Lord in this way. The spring half-day retreat here at the church will be one of the highlights of the class. We will gather for the two most important talks of the class: first, on what it means to gives one’s life over to Jesus, and second, on how Jesus sustains us and centers our worship through Holy Communion (sometimes called the Holy Eucharist or Mass). Adult Baptisms: Saturday, April 19 at 8 p.m. Adult Confirmation: Sunday, April 27 at 9 a.m.
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES FAMILY MATTERS Dr. Ben Albritton, Psychologist, and Ken Van Swearingen, Licensed Professional Counselor Marmion Conference Room

Kevin Dodge How the Bible Changed the World: the Interpretation of the Bible and its Impact on History The Bible is often a difficult set of books to interpret. Written thousands of years ago into a middle eastern culture reflecting different values, tastes and outlooks than ours, the Bible can be a bewildering document. Yet, it is also the most read, pondered, criticized and commented on work in history. This class will explore how different interpretations of certain key Biblical texts led to convulsive changes in the world. We will see how these interpretations resulted in significant transformations of our views of money, authority, sex, salvation, slavery and war.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is an honest desire to stop drinking. AA has no dues or fees. It is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution. The group does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. INCARNATION MEN’S FELLOWSHIP Every Thursday morning, 7:15 a.m. • Henk’s Black Forest Bakery and Deli
Our mission is to foster a community of men at Church of the Incarnation in fellowship with the Holy Ghost. The community is comprised of a cross section of men from all generations of the Parish Family—married and single, young and old. IMF is not a Bible study, per se. We have no agenda or objective other than to explore and express our interests, ideals and experiences in a congenial atmosphere and on equal terms. IMF is a community where men may explore the riches of our Parish Family and the Anglican Tradition, seek wisdom, explore callings, gain encouragement and be sent out for ministry. Finally, it is a place to return for rest after service, to share what was learned and continue to discern how to be a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. CANCER SUPPORT GROUP Wednesdays at 1p.m. • Brides’ Room
The Cancer Support Group is a confidential gathering of persons whose lives are affected by cancer. The weekly meetings allow each participant—whether recently diagnosed and in treatment for cancer, surviving cancer, or caring for a loved one with cancer—the option to speak candidly of “where they are” and of how his or her life is effected by illness as others attending listen non-judgmentally. Following this time of sharing, we read aloud together from some book chosen as our current focus and which provides the vehicle for us to speak of the spiritual, emotional, and physical issues we may be experiencing or have experienced. Each session ends with prayer for those attending. Participation is open to parishioners and non-parishioners alike. Dori Budd, dbudd@incarnation.org
