Prior Park Landscape Garden This December a landscape-wide advent calendar is coming to Prior Park Landscape Garden. Exploring the garden you will come across a whole host of decorative little wooden doors, which open to reveal some festive finds and challenges for the whole family. Winter in the garden is still surprisingly green, thanks to the glossy laurel hedge lines, plus evergreen trees – many also showcasing some colourful berries for the birds at this time of year. Prior Park, looked after by the National Trust, is currently undergoing a large restoration project to restore the Georgian dams. The work is in the early stages, and while the garden is a hive of activity for the project during the week, at the weekends when the gates open to the public over the winter, the diggers will fall quiet, and allow for peaceful winter wanders. The Tea Shed, now relocated to the Cabinet at the top of the garden, is on hand every weekend with a selection of hot drinks to warm up chilly fingers, plus cakes, scones, snacks, cold drinks, and if you’re visiting over lunchtime then there are paninis and soup to choose from. While winter opening is limited to weekends only (November to January), Boxing Day provides another opportunity to explore the winter garden and to stretch the legs after the indulgences of Christmas Day. Pop by the Tea Shed for just one more mince pie, if you haven’t had your fill for the season.

At first the group became known as Bath Christian Fellowship and grew, building around a sense of family and community in daily life, meeting throughout the week, in homes and meeting halls, not only on Sundays.

As part of that focus the name of the church will change in line with the Life that the gospel of Jesus Christ inspires.

The group bought its first building in Henry Street in 1978 and in the early 1980’s changed its name from Bath Christian Fellowship to Bath City Church, embracing the reality of its identity as a church in the city. In 1988, after a remarkable story of unique opportunities and financial provision, the church purchased the former city cinema, the Forum with its large auditorium and listed art deco features. After five decades, with an increasingly diverse and more dispersed congregation in

From the beginning of November, the group of people known as Bath City Church, who meet in the Forum in the centre of the city, will be changing their name to Life Church Bath. “We still retain a heart and a love for our renowned and beautiful city,” explained Dan. “It’s a city characterised for leisure, refreshment and a provision of healing. But we also want to reach to our wider region, to the nation, and nations beyond.” Dan is very clear, “Our heart and new name reflect a longing for our city to Come to Life!”
