Dear Readers Welcome to the

Inside this month’s issue

September issue of In and Around Iver And sadly our last Summer month before heading into Autumn. Many parents will be breathing a sigh of relief, as children head back to school, whilst others will be dreading the increase in morning traffic. Thankfully, I’m currently affected by neither, as my days of doing the school run are long over and working from home means I get to avoid rush hour. Of course, like everything in life, there are pros and cons for working at home and having a child well past school age, the latter a constant reminder that I’m ageing by the day. There aren’t too many benefits to be had from getting older that I can see, so I had to smile the other day, when an envelope came through my door with the Age UK logo on it. To be fair, it was addressed to the occupier and not me personally, but when I opened it up, I found it was aimed at anyone over fifty years old. Needless to say, a swift bout of depression struck as I realised I am officially old! On the upside, it was offering me a fantastically reduced rate of car insurance, because I’m now obviously an older, more cautious driver and therefore a safe bet. I’m not sure how true that is, but hey! If it saves a few bob, then I’ll happily put an Age UK sticker in the back screen of my Mini Cooper Sport.

DOMESTIC ABUSE SURVIVORS

You don’t need to suffer alone!

www.domesticabusesurvivors.co.uk

After surviving Domestic Violence myself, I was invited to attend a White Ribbon Survivors event in 2017 by my local IDVA who had supported me during the years they had dealt with my Case. It was 'During' the event I decided to give something back in Vicki Wheaton what can sometimes be a really lonely time, so I signed up for Voluntary work supporting Women and children during their Stay at Refuge. 'It was then that Domestic Abuse Survivors was born in 2018 on Social media'. It was set up to help provide donations into a Domestic Abuse refuge to help women and children fleeing abuse. The donations mainly came from the general public and made such a huge difference to those they reached. I then had people fleeing Abuse in the local community get in touch with me to see if I could help them, so I started offering a support service so that my clients didn't feel so alone. After operating for 12 months it was decided that I would apply for Charity Status and in June 2019 we were Registered with the charity commissioners with the 'Registered Charity Number 1183864' to operate in the London Borough of Hillingdon and Iver, Bucks. It was a delightful day and I have received so much wonderful support in all that I do and have had the pleasure of working with some of the best professionals on my journey.

52

I am very proud and honoured clients have trusted me personally to help them and I have learnt as much from them as they have from me and that is invaluable in the service I offer. 'My Service is Client Lead, and Non Judgemental' I am not here to Judge you or your circumstances, I am here to help you and offer support when you need it. 'I thank my Family and my Partners Continued support during my journey of Long Hours and Hard work to make Domestic Abuse Survivors a success I will forever be Thankful too you'.

Residents Garden and Shopping Precinct

Heathrow

The Heathrow Rangers are continuing with their work around the shops and the residents garden. You can usually spot them on a Monday with a distinctive branded white van.

The consultation on Heathrow Expansion closes on September 13 so make certain that your response is submitted in time. The response of the residents’ association as a body is posted on the website and you are free to “borrow” from it for your response. Frame your response in your own words and do not simply cut and paste as otherwise your submission will not be counted as a separate submission.

If you would like to support the upkeep of the Residents Garden and the planter tubs by the shops, you can buy a lottery ticket from the South Bucks and Chilterns Lottery. This means that if you buy a lottery ticket from their website and nominate us as your chosen cause then we receive 50p per ticket which we are putting towards the cost of upkeep for the garden. Tickets can only be purchased on-line at www.chilternsouthbuckslottery.co.uk

Local Plan The association has submitted a response to the local plan consultation, and it can be viewed ion our website.
