Dear Readers Welcome to the March issue of In and Around Iver I can’t tell you how glad I am to have got February out of the way. Never before have I known so many people to go down sick with flu and other ghastly bugs. My entire household has been riddled with one thing after another and eventually my protestations of “I can’t be ill, I’m self-employed” apparently fell on the Universe’s deaf ears! In fact, not only did I end up with the full collection of ailments, I was stuck in bed sick for an epic 11 days. I think that has to be my personal record and a very sharp reminder that when you’re running a business single handedly, you really are at the mercy of the Gods! Thankfully, normality has returned and here we are, in my most favourite month of the year. I love everything about March. It’s truly the start of Spring. The days get longer (yes, those clocks go forward on 31st), I can start getting the garden ready again and there’s bound to be at least one cheeky little bbq. It’s also birthday month for both myself and the magazines and whilst I’m not so keen to brag about my own age, I’m proud to say that In and Around Publishing is officially 13 years old. Add all that to the fact that I’ll be munching pancakes on the 5th and hopefully being treated on Mothers Day (31st) - all in all, a wonderful month ahead! Until next month .Angela & Sammy

Looking for Loving Homes Cynthia & Mindy Cynthia and Mindy are two young and very cute female ferrets looking for a loving home. Like most ferrets, who are sociable and intelligent animals, they are very inquisitive and love to play and run around. Both girls enjoy human company, but being young do need to get used to more handling. They need a home where they will be provided with all the companionship, care and essential mental and physical stimulation these delightful creatures require to stay happy and healthy. If you can offer an experienced ferret home to our lovely little ladies, we would love to hear from you.

fully loyal and loving lifelong companion. Josie’s puppies Huey and Boe are now just over 7 weeks old. They are a delightfully cheeky pair who are becoming increasingly adventurous and though they have had fantastic early life training from mum Josie, they now need to prepare for their own lives Did you know? A female ferret is called a jill, the and more training and socialisation in their forever name for a male is a hob, baby ferrets are called kits homes. They will be homed individually and don’t be and a group of ferrets is known as a busyness or fooled by the amazingly chilled out photo – these business! boys will keep you on your toes! If you have lots of love, time and puppy patience to offer one of our Josie and puppies Huey & Boe lovely boys, we’d love to hear from you. Beautiful lurcher Josie came into our care after being abandoned in a field with her two puppies. This lovely girl who at one year old is little more than a baby herself was cold and emaciated, yet despite being starving had never failed to feed and give the best possible care she could manage to her little ones – at whatever cost to herself. Since being with us they have all flourished and now that the pups are nearly ready to leave her care, it’s time for Josie to start looking for the love she so deserves herself. She is a very gentle quiet girl who enjoys nothing more than a cuddle and human company. She walks beautifully on the lead and does now understand some basic commands. Toys are currently not her thing, but hopefully with time she will learn how to enjoy playtime and regain her own lost puppyhood. Our gorgeous Josie will make someone a wonder 28

Heathrow

draw a red line around the filling in of the lake.

There has been a hold up with regard to the Heathrow Rangers being deployed to Richings Park. Heathrow have decided that it would be wiser to trial their operation out in Colnbrook and Spelthorne first before expanding it to the other Heathrow Villages of which we are one. We don’t have a date when they will start but will keep on the case. Please don’t forget to complete the Heathrow Questionnaire on Airspace Changes. For the first time, Richings Park will be under flight paths and for our collective health we need to make the case for noise reduction and respite. Suggested answers to their questions can be found on our website in the NEWS section. A particular point to make is that a Night Flight Ban should mean just that and not, as is the case now, a stoppage of scheduled take-offs with a restricted number of landings still allowed. We will continue to campaign for Richings Park to be included in the Heathrow Wider Property Zone in order to take advantage of their offer to this zone to purchase properties at a 25% uplift plus expenses for property owners who wish to relocate due to the airport expansion.

Station Car Park and Parking Restrictions

CCTV Project and Neighbourhood Watch

As well as accepting cash or cheques as before, our website also allows for on-line subscription payments. Our financial year ends on March 31st and a request for subscriptions for 2019-2020 will be sent out during April together with an invitation to the Annual General Meeting which will be held at the Sports Club on April 30th.

Following on from the Crime Prevention Event that was held in February work will continue to install ANPR Cameras at strategic locations and to link these with existing privately-owned CCTV Systems. This is not just a hardware issue and volunteers will be needed to help run the logistics of the scheme. Look at the website for email links to volunteer your help. A website dedicated to this project has been created named smartville.info

Thorney Park The team working on opposition to this project have continued to make fruitful contacts with outside authorities and organisations to build up a head of steam to try and get this abandoned. Hopefully, we will soon learn what Bucks CC Plan B is now that they have had to 46

This month we expect to hear the results of the parking restriction survey that was carried out in February. The plan is to implement whatever is decided to time with the opening of the new car park which is currently anticipated to be in December 2019.

Lakeside Energy From Waste Plant Heathrow’s plans for an additional runway mean that the current facility located on the Colnbrook By -Pass will have to relocate. A site just west of the Thames Water Sewage Treatment Works on the other side of the M4 from the Old Slade Lane Bridge has been identified as being suitable for this, subject to planning permission being granted by Slough Borough Council. A public consultation meeting is planned to be held at the Sports Club on Wednesday March 14th where you will have the opportunity to talk to representatives of the facility and to see the proposed plans.
