Dear Readers Welcome to the

Inside this month’s Bumper issue

May issue of In and Around Iver A great month, with two Bank Holiday Mondays to look forward to on 6th and 27th and hopefully some nice weather to go with them. A much needed week’s holiday in Portugal has been booked, so I’m excited to be getting some down time and a chance to switch off my brain and relax for a while. April was pretty chaotic for a number of reasons, but mostly as Sammy and Summer moved out into a place of their own and it was all hands on deck to help them get settled. I’m so proud of Sammy and how quickly she has matured and become such a wonderful mummy. And, whilst I’m left with a clean and tidy house, I have to say the silence is deafening (no kids tv in the background) and I may well still be suffering from empty nest syndrome for the coming months. Fortunately, they’re coming to Portugal with us, and I’m guessing it will be quite different to last year. Little Summer is like a tornado on legs, so I’m not rating my chances of reading a book and chilling. This could turn into more of an action holiday than I had planned for. Eek!! Well, that’s the mags done for another month, the house is still tidy, so I’m off to have a go at baking the fresh cherry and almond cake on page 30. Until next month

Iver Recreation Ground Car Park

The Community Hub

We are pleased to advise work is about to commence to improve the car park at Iver Recreation Ground making it more accessible for all. The improvements are intended to better facilitate access for disabled visitors with 12 new parking bays being constructed adjacent to the pavilion as well as providing a better footway and upgrades to the lighting leading to entrance of the Jubilee Pavilion itself.

The Citizens Advice Bureau continues to run Drop In sessions here at the Community Hub, 45B High Street, Iver on the second Thursday of the month between 10am and 12pm no appointment is necessary, we are happy to report the service continues to be well used and proving of real benefit to our residents.

We are also actively seeking funding for the replacement of the path at Iver Recreation Ground, information on this project will be published in due course.

Hardings Row Nature Reserve is best reached on foot due to limited parking, the conservation area is home to a host of wildlife including a range of butterflies and dragon flies. There is an open meadow to the east of the site and a range of birdlife including Woodpeckers, Herons, Owls and Kestrels to name a few are also found here. Frogs are plentiful and lots of frogspawn and tadpoles are observed in the ponds and ditches found on site. Grass Snakes have also been observed in the banks. Why not drop by and wander around this often forgotten nature reserve here in The Ivers.

Iver Heath Recreation Ground In further news we are also happy to advise that we were successful in being awarded funding from the LAF (Local Area Forum) to upgrade the lighting on the footpaths leading into Iver Heath Recreation Ground. An upgrade to the existing pavilion is also planned to better benefit the community, local groups and associations.

Thorney Park Bucks CC have now rowed back from the idea of filling in the lake completely and are now proposing to leave a smaller lake. However, the project is still completely destructive of the current facility and looks to be more disruptive to the neighbouring residents due to the long running operating times it would need. A farce of divine proportions spend most of their time either fighting with each other or getting drunk, or both. This is even before we meet the guests! Tim says; “I’m thrilled to be directing the wonderful farce that is “Don’t Get Your Vicars in a Twist” which has all the elements you’d expect from a side-splitting comedy; doors a-plenty, crossdressing, mistaken identities and more. With an absolutely stellar cast, this is already proving to be a bundle of laughs during rehearsals that will translate into a most enjoyable evening, so don’t miss out!”

Desperate to find the funds to pay for his daughter’s wedding, Church Warden George Williams seizes the opportunity to rent out the vicarage while waiting for a new vicar to be appointed. The booking is to a touring Theatre Company, who are to stage a Murder Mystery weekend in which a female Vicar and a Bishop are among the cast. Unfortunately for George, a new female Vicar is appointed to the vicarage before the Murder Mystery weekend can take place. George thinks he is still in luck when the new Vicar, Caroline Timberlake announces that she is to visit friends at a college reunion over the weekend. However, events take a turn for the worse when Bishop Herbert rings the vicarage to announce that he is to visit to meet his new vicar. Chaos ensues as the actor playing the Bishop in the Murder Mystery weekend is mistaken by George and fellow Churchwarden Alan, for the real Bishop Herbert and the Bishop himself mistakes the actor playing the Vicar for Caroline. Matters get worse as half of the Theatre Company fails to make an appearance and the remainder 60
