Dear Readers Welcome to the May issue of

Inside this month’s issue

In and Around Denham A great month, with two Bank Holiday Mondays to look forward to on 6th and 27th and hopefully some nice weather to go with them. A much needed week’s holiday in Portugal has been booked, so I’m excited to be getting some down time and a chance to switch off my brain and relax for a while.

Pg 48

April was pretty chaotic for a number of reasons, but mostly as Sammy and Summer moved out into a place of their own and it was all hands on deck to help them get settled. I’m so proud of Sammy and how quickly she has matured and become such a wonderful mummy. And, whilst I’m left with a clean and tidy house, I have to say the silence is deafening (no kids tv in the background) and I may well still be suffering from empty nest syndrome for the coming months. Fortunately, they’re coming to Portugal with us, and I’m guessing it will be quite different to last year. Little Summer is like a tornado on legs, so I’m not rating my chances of reading a book and chilling. This could turn into more of an action holiday than I had planned for. Eek!!

Dear Resident,

2019 05

Aren’t the light evenings great. It really makes one feel like going out for evening walk, or just popping out to meet up with friends. Amazing how much better it makes us feel. We are busy preparing for our Annual Parish Meeting being held in the Denham Village Memorial Hall, Village Road, on the 8th May at 7:30pm. We have invited our Local Area Technician to come along and update us on Highway issues and our County Cllr to update us on the Unitary. We have also invited the Fire and Rescue Service so you can find out more about the work they do besides putting out fires; such as providing and installing fire alarms for the elderly. They also take on apprentices so do come along to find out more about the job? The Colne Valley Park team may also be there. The Police in conjunction with the Community Safety team will have a stall so you can raise any concerns you may have with them. We will have a ‘volunteering’ stall with opportunities to join our Good Neighbours Scheme, Litter Picking Groups, Events Team or help in our office. Some of you may have noticed that we have started grass and hedge cutting. Besides this there has been some tree felling along the front boundary of the allotments and we are looking to replant trees there later this year. There have been some rumours flying around about Denham Youth Club closing due to the

26

Parish Council withdrawing its funding. We would assure you that is NOT the case. The club organisers advised us they closed due to dwindling membership. Unfortunately we no longer have a Parish Councillor involved in youth work but if you feel you could help organise a youth club, please contact us. You may have noticed that Transport for Bucks (TFB) have done some remedial work and raised the bank on the A412 to stop water flowing onto the footpath from the highway. We are waiting to see how much this alleviates the flooding whilst we wait for the drainage problems to be fixed on the highway. The Neighbourhood Plan continues to evolve and we urge you to write in with your views if you have anything you wish us to consider. Have you concerns about future development where you reside? Would you be concerned or welcome more industry, office blocks, housing, youth and sports centres or community facilities? What if the Green Belt was lifted? Please tell us your views and don’t miss this opportunity to influence future development, don’t leave it to others – GET INVOLVED contact clerk@denhambucks-pc.gov.uk Marilyn Heath Chairman, Denham Parish Council Our grateful thanks to ‘In and Around Denham’ for providing this Platform for us
