This includes items such as a hoodie or a sweater that you can pull on or peel off, depending on the temperature. Roll softer clothes. Tees, tanks, and sweaters can be wrapped like you would wrap a burrito! Then fold larger ones (jackets, dresses, and pants). I also like to pack more delicate stuff like undies in a small bag inside my luggage. Pack heavier items like shoes in a plastic bag. That way they won’t get your clothes dirty. Then put them at the bottom of your bag so they won’t crush everything. Pack all makeup and toiletries in a leakproof bag. Make sure all caps are on tight; the last thing you want is a shampoo explosion! If possible, wear your jacket when you travel, so you don’t have to pack it. Jackets take up a lot of space in a suitcase. I’m always chilly on a plane, so this works for me! Don’t overpack or overstuff. Your clothes will wind up a wrinkled wreck. You can put a few sheets of tissue paper or plastic (like dry cleaning bags) between the layers as well to prevent wrinkles. Finally, leave home anything you can’t bear to break or lose. Why risk it?

STYLE Q&A WITH ZENDAYA:

What should I wear . . . When it’s the first day of school. I say, be cute but casual. I remember when I was really little, like in kindergarten or first grade, I wore a super-fancy dress for the first day. It was kind of itchy and way too princessy for playing in the yard! Now I know that the first day is all about making a good first impression on your teachers and peers. You want to choose an outfit that looks put-together and makes you feel confident. I would also pick a bright color that gives you energy. That first day back after a long summer break can be a tough one! For class picture day. The cool thing is, you really don’t have to worry about your bottom half. Your portrait is shot from the waist up, and in your class pic, you’re usually sitting down or standing behind people. Focus on your top. What colors flatter your face? I’d recommend a brighter hue that pops. Also, stay away from any shirt with a big symbol or logo on it—that will distract from your beautiful face!
