INTRO/ If there is a word to describe myself I would name water. Water is so adaptive that it easily fits in any shape of container, just like how I am open to adapt to many kinds of things, including but not limited to: new environments, new people and new techniques. Meanwhile water also means perseverance, it lasts long and is so durable that it surmounts mountains and rocks. At the same time, water is inclusive, it hugs other objects and absorbs as much as it could. This book is a selected series of my works, they speak for me.

TRAVEL LIGHT / _Semester Spring 2019

_Objective This project was aimed to find a poorly designed book with interesting content. Redesign the book by refining typography and transforming layout as well as visual system to fit the content.

P01 // HIP HOTELS

_Title Hip Hotels

_Instructor John Nettleton _Course Type Composition

_Approach I bought this book, Hip Hotels in a second hand bookstore. The original flow was inadequate and lacked in hierarchy. I intended to make the book more dynamic by creating a balanced pace between text and photos and enhancing the hierarchy of each spreads. Since the theme is majorly about hotel staying during traveling, effort was made to catch the tidy and cozy feeling of those selected hip hotels in different cities

_Title Film Festival: Poetry of Loneliness

_Objective Create a hypothetical film festival to celebrate the films of a director. Coordinate a complete set of material that work for this festival and function as a whole system. _Approach The selected films of Wong Kar Wai talk about fleeting romance, flickering solitude and achingly romance among young urbanites. I created a glitching effect on all documentary photos to represent the sense of uncertainty and a bokeh effect on all festival images to portray the feeling of charming loneliness.

_Title RH Annual Report _Semester Fall 2019 _Objective This project aimed to find a successful brand and redesigned its annual report. The purpose of this project is to deliver the information to both of shareholders and potential customers in a more powerful and attractive way.

P04 // RH ANNUAL REPORT

WARM LINEN / _Instructor David Hake _Course Type Systems

_Approach The company I chose was RH (Restoration & Hardware), an upscale American home-furnishing company, whose style is usually antique and architectural. Their original annual report was only focused on data, I visualized those contents in a more appealing way. The main color I picked for this project come from their colored linen, which could best represent the feeling RH want to deliverer to their customers.

_Title Future Report: Smart Fu(rni)ture

_Objective This project was based on the previous annual report redesign project. It evolved one step further beyond the original topic. The visual system should reflect the future of the industry. _Approach

P05 // SMART FU ( RNI ) TURE

SMART HOME / _Semester Fall 2019 _Instructor David Hake _Course Type Systems

Since RH is a furnishings company, I chose smart furniture industry as my future report topic. The main color was vivid orange which shows a contrast of the classic linen color of RH annual report. This smart furniture report is more focused on human experience rather than pure aesthetics.

DIGITAL DETOX / P06 // TAKE A BRAKE

_Title tab. (Take a break) _Semester Summer 2019 _Objective The purpose of this project was to use graphic design help solve a problem in the world. Address a problem and present engaging and relevant solutions in a visual way. Identify relevant audience and stakeholders for your design solutions.

_Instructor David Hake _Course Visual Thinking

_Approach Technology addiction now becomes a real problem. People cannot live without their phones nowadays, either for entertainment or for work. The technology has surpassed the human interaction in some way. I will create a brand tab (take a break) that raises the awareness of tech addiction and encourages people to go outdoor / hang out with friends in real life.
