MFU ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

• Applicants must hold a non-Thai nationality and possess a foreign passport or have a certificate of personal status issued by an authorised organisation.

• Applicants must demonstrate a genuine interest in studying at Mae Fah Luang University.

• Applicants must not have any conditions that could affect their studies.

• Applicants must be currently enrolled in Grade 12 or Year 13, or have graduated from Grade 12 or Year 13 from an international school in Thailand certificated by the Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC), or Applicants must have graduated from the upper secondary education level or equivalent according to one of the following systems:

• BRITISH SYSTEM

Applicants must have results from at least 3 subjects in one of the following:

• GCE ‘A’ Level with grades A*-E.

• LRN International A Levels with grades A*-E.

• Cambridge Pre-U with grades M1 or D1-D3

• AMERICAN/CANADIAN SYSTEM

• GED taken prior to May 2017: A total score of not less than 2,250 across 5 subjects, with a minimum of 410 in each subject.

• GED taken from May 2017 onwards: A score of at least 145 points in each of the 4 subjects.

• NEW ZEALAND SYSTEM

(1) Applicable for graduates from the Academic Year 2024 onwards: National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) under New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) at least 80 credits achieved with:

- NCEA Level 2 or above 60 credits and

- Not less than 20 credits from the Literacy and Numeracy co-requisite subjects.

(2) Applicable for graduates from the Academic Year 2010 - 2023: Applicants must pass the New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) subjects, under New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), at least 80 credits, consisting of:

- Subjects at Level 2 or higher, totaling not less than 60 credits, and

- Subjects at Level 1 or higher, totaling not less than 20 credits.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is counted as 1 subject.

The graduate must receive an NCEA Level 2 certificate, Record of Achievement, and a certificate verifying the level, number of subjects, and credits of each subject from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).

(3) Applicable for graduates from the Academic 2009: Applicants must pass the New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) subjects, under New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), at Level 2 or higher, in at least 5 different subjects, at least 60 credits, consisting of 2 compulsory subjects:

- English (literacy) at Level 2 or higher, at least 4 credits.

- Mathematics (numeracy) at Level 2 or higher, at least 4 credits.

- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is not counted. The graduate must receive a Record of Achievement and a certificate verifying the level, number of subjects, and credits of each subject from the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).

• INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB)

(1) International Baccalaureate Diploma, that a total score of 5 subjects and 1 elective course with a minimum score of 24 and pass the Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Action & Service (CAS) criteria according to International criteria. Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) or

(2) IB Diploma Course Results ( IBCR) with not less than grade 3 on at least 5 different subjects.

(3) IBCP Certificate: Not less than grade 3 in at least 2 IB Diploma Programme courses , passing the Career-related Study Track subjects, and passing the Reflective Project with a grade of D or higher.

• BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION COUNCIL (BTEC)

• Other systems equivalent to the upper secondary education level or the highest basic education curriculum of each country (Secondary School) or from an institution certified by the relevant government or international organisations

• Specific requirements of Programmes are provided on page 8 -12

English Language Requirements

• Applicants must have the qualification in accordance with the requirements in either 1. or 2., details as follows:

1. Applicants must have the English proficiency test result not less than the following requirements:

The test result should not exceed two years since the examination date.

2. Applicants must have graduated from high schools where English is the primary medium of instruction. Applicants must also submit a Certificate of English as Medium of Instruction issued by the school to the university.

• In the case that applicants do not have the English proficiency test result as stated in 1. and do not graduate from high schools as stated in 2. but have other academic qualifications that meet requirements of the programme, the School shall accept applicants with conditions as follows:

- Applicants are required to take the Placement Test prepared by the School of Liberal Arts. The Placement Test fee is 500 Baht per test . If the applicants have a passing score of 60%, they shall be accepted to study by the School.

- If applicants do not achieve a passing score of 60% on the Placement Test, they are required to enroll in the Intensive English Courses for one semester during their first semester of study until they achieve a passing grade.

Remarks:

• Applications for each programme are reviewed every one month until the seats are filled. This means that available seats for certain programme may be filled prior to the application deadline. If the application deadline of the last round has passed, all programmes will be closed for applications, even if some seats may still be available.

• Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance.

• Applicants can select one programme when applying to MFU.

2) In the statement of purpose, applicants must describe their interests and abilities in digital technology for business innovation.

Multimedia Technology and Animation Applicants must submit a brief, 3-minute self-introduction video clip in English. The video should describe their multimedia work and express their passion for the Multimedia Technology and Animation programme. Applicants must upload the video to YouTube and submit the URL via the online application system.

1) Applicants must have a Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) Level 4 with a score of 180 or above (Exceptions may be made for applicants whose language test results have expired, those who have completed at least 12 credits of Chinese language courses, or those who have studied Chinese at a school or language institute and can provide official proof or certification from the respective institution).

Complete new student information

• Complete all personal information and upload all necessary documents to the new student registration system

• Pay tuition fees and all expenses in Thai Baht (THB) currency

• Applicants will receive an official acceptance letter with the necessary visa request documents and acceptance package via email/post.

: Arrive at the MFU Campus

• Inform the Global Relations Division of your arrival details for pickup services from the Mae Fah Luang - Chiang Rai International Airport or Chiang Rai Bus Station (1 week in advance).

• Undergraduate international students are guaranteed dormitory rooms on campus for their first year of study at MFU.
