This gently shelved pebble beach, which stretches for around 4 miles in length, is flanked by craggy headlands. At low tide a wide expanse of sand is revealed. The strong winds here, and often sizeable waves, mean swimming can be quite risky, but the bay attracts experienced surfers and kayakers, who come to Porth Neigwl precisely for these sea conditions. If you are more inclined towards land-based activities then there are plenty of good walks in the area.
Dogs are allowed on the beach, although no dog bins are provided.
Heading west from Llanengan, there is a small car park, from which a well-maintained path leads down to the beach, approximately 200 metres away.
There are no facilities at the beach itself, although the small village of Llanengan, about half a mile away, has a pub which serves food.
