about us Starting with our initial projects in Barbados, we have since worked on numerous townhouses, hotels, marinas, condominiums, industrial and commercial buildings across the region. We are not only limited to projects of this nature as we have also worked on cricket and other stadia, bridges, car parks, low income and affordable/middle income housing as well as drainage alleviation projects in Barbados and the region.
During our numerous years of operation, we have become a member of the National Precast Concrete Association Inc (NPCA), the Precast/ Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), Spancrete Manufacturers Association (SMA) and the International Federation for Structural Concrete/federation international du beton (fib). Our consistent growth is due to our highly trained staff, our machinery and our unwavering commitment to the customer. From our eight (8) acre site in Lears, St. Michael, we operate our state-of-the-art plant in the Western Hemisphere and manufacture exceptional precast and prestressed concrete products which exceed international standards while ensuring cost effectiveness. Hollowcore is an innovative prestressed concrete product where the manufacturing process involves the inclusion of pre-designed holes instead of producing a solid slab. This product is manufactured under the strictest of factory conditions which ensures high quality and strength. Hollowcore slabs range in thickness from 4� to 12� and are typically used for structural flooring and
hollowcore roof applications however, it also offers an economic and versatile solution in any type of building construction. In addition to its range in thickness, hollowcore can also be produced in different shapes and carry openings for conduits, inclusive of electrical, plumbing and air-conditioning according to design specifications.
THE ADVANTAGES OF USING HOLLOWCORE Hollowcore can span long areas allowing for large, open interiors without obstructions. The long span of these units diminish the requirement of supporting columns and beams. Hollowcore floors offer minimal down time on site with each slab requiring on average 10 to 15 minutes to install. Once the hollowcore slabs have been secured, they become the working surface for other trades. Slabs are cut to lengths suitable to the building design, resulting in speedy construction and reduced cost for the client. Hollowcore slabs are fire resistant and do not burn or give off lethal fumes. Hollowcore slabs offer good sound dissipation due to their high rigity. Hollowcore is cooler and easily facilitates ventilation resulting in reduced energy costs and additional savings. Hollowcore lowers maintenance costs and in some instances insurance rates.

We are committed to ensuring high quality and as such our products are manufactured under the continuous supervision of our Quality Control Department to ensure the quality and dimensional accuracy is maintained. The manufacturing process begins with a series of test by our team of Quality Assurance Technicians on the raw materials, to ensure they comply with specifications. Complete records are maintained in accordance with
quality control/ miixing plant our Quality Control procedures to enable full tracking of each individual element from design stage, to manufacture and installation on site. Our mixing plant is fully automated and we have invested in innovative batching components. With the addition of two conveyors, increased aggregate storage capacity and dedicated handling controls, we have experienced increases in productivity. All of our batching equipment has been custom designed for our operation.
plant overview We erected our plant to initially produce precast on a large steel bed measuring 70m long x 7m wide however, the decision to diversify our product range saw the introduction of an Extruder Line to produce Hollowcore. Over the years, we have undergone further development with the inclusion of a Spancrete Plant, a (flying rabbit to transport the concrete mix) and a
circulation plant with twenty-four (24) production pallets measuring 13m x 4m that circle vertically. The plant is fully automated and each stage monitored by our experienced staff. All of our technological advances have allowed for an increase in efficiency and we are more than equipped to satisfy the needs of each customer.
Preconco has based our operation around the customers’ requirements. From the design stages to installation, we utilize our expertise, equipment and highly skilled work force to produce concrete components that are of the highest standard. Design & Manufacture Our Engineers are readily available to meet with you to ensure your expectations are met. Delivery Service We use our ultra-modern fleet of vehicles to deliver products to site and provide specialty vehicles if access to the area is compromised or otherwise restricted. We recently invested in our customized flat racks which allow for slabs to be transported vertically, ideal for both inland freight and exports. Installation Preconco employs fully trained personnel to handle and install precast and prestressed concrete elements in accordance to the industry’s code of practice for safe installation. Prior to installation, all sites are visited by our expert Installations Management Team. It is our standard operating policy to first discuss and agree upon all access, sequence of work and safety aspects, and incorporate these into our installation method.
