MILTON GLASER
from Portfolio 2020

Milton Glaser Poster
The challenge of this project was to create a piece that represented the selected Graphic Designer.

As can bee seen, my project was on Milton Glaser, a graphic designer that I can confidently say has made a major impact on the world of Graphic Design, sometimes in the background.
While not required, I decided that I wanted to try and evoke Milton Glaser's distinctive style of work. I used the font "American Typewriter," used by Milton in his famous "I ❤ NY" design, and used the ‘silhouette with waves’ design theme from his "Dylan" album cover for the portrait of Glaser himself. A silhouette of his famous poppy is present as a lapel pin as well.
Portions of the biography paper I wrote as part of this project are set as the background to provide a little additional visual interest.
Direct Mail Piece
For this project, we were challenged to create a mail piece advertising a fictional gallery exhibit centered around a chosen Graphic Designer in the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and create a direct mail piece based on the gallery.

As I had become familiar with Glaser's work, I chose to focus on him in the fictional gallery, and used his "From Poppy with Love" design. The final piece includes a take-away Poppy magnet.
