Shands at the University of Florida: Shands at the University of Florida, designated as a Magnet-status, Level I Trauma Center, is home to many of Florida’s medical firsts and is ranked annually as a U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospital” in several specialties. As an academic medical facility and the state’s leading referral center, this 626-bed tertiarycare facility offers many exciting specialties including our four centers of excellence: cancer, cardiovascular, neurological, pediatric and transplant care. Shands at UF is home to a Level I Trauma Center and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, as well as a regional burn center. Shands Jacksonville: As an academic medical center affiliated with the University of Florida, Shands Jacksonville serves patients throughout Northeast Florida and South Georgia. This 696-bed facility features a neuroscience institute with a nationally certified comprehensive stroke center, newly dedicated orthopaedic, cardiology and neurology units, multidisciplinary cancer programs, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the state’s first Level I Trauma program. Shands Lake Shore: This 99-bed facility provides the community of Lake City with full-service, acute-care resources. We are also the only hospital within a 40-mile radius that is equipped to provide both obstetric and pediatric inpatient programs. And we specialize in services such as MRI, CT scanning, nuclear medicine and cardiovascular and pulmonary testing. Shands Starke: This 25-bed, rural community hospital is designated by the state as a “critical access hospital.” Shands is the only healthcare organization operating in Starke, providing much needed medical, surgical and emergency care, along with outpatient specialty clinics and the area’s only diagnostic laboratory.
