Roo Theatre presents The Full Monty Roo Theatre celebrated its 25th birthday on Saturday 25th February with a special performance of the musical The Full Monty. Now the public can also enjoy this hillarious comedy. The Full Monty is directed by Roo Theatre’s founder Gordon Streek. “With all the downturn in the local steel industry this show is particularly relevant”, Mr Streek said. “It has great music and good Aussie humour”. Based on the English film, the show tells the story of six unemployed Wollongong men—yes we have localised it—low on cash and prospects, who decide to present a strip act at a local club after seeing their wives' enthusiasm for a touring company of male strippers. To compete they threaten to go all the way, the full monty. As they prepare for the show, working through their fears, self-consciousness and anxieties, they overcome their inner demons and find strength in their camaraderie. This show will have you rolling in your seats and crying the next.
