Rugby League

Contact At Close Quarters

Aided by the new and sensational AAMI Park’s unobstructed views and a seating configuration that brings you right up to the intensely physical contests characteristic of the sport, Rugby League continues to enjoy healthy support in Melbourne even during the midst of the AFL season. Fully experienced at close range, Rugby League is a clash between giants and the bone crunching tackles, encounters and swift ball movement is showcased brilliantly in our city’s new stadium. Traditionally an AFL heartland, Melbourne also has a reasonably long history in Rugby League and there’s room in the hearts of local sports enthusiasts for more than one ball game. The continued determination of local team Melbourne Storm, fighting again for pride and premiership points, is well supported by tens of thousands of loyal and enthusiastic fans. AAMI Park’s capacity of over 30,000 may well be regularly stretched if the first matches there in the middle of last year are anything to go by. More than two thirds of that number made their way into the stadium for the Storm’s first match there, and crowd numbers are tipped to soar as time progresses.
