“THE THOUGHT”

The Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago Announces the US Tour of “Tigre Reale”

The film concert with a live performance of Italian musicians Stefano Maccagno and Furio Di Castri will be on tour in seven US cities, from the Midwest to the South.

The Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago is pleased to announce the U.S. tour of Tigre Reale, an original film concert featuring the live musical performances of Stefano Maccagno (piano) and Furio Di Castri (double bass). The program is supported by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema of Turin.

Tigre Reale, a silent film made by Giovanni Pastrone in 1916, is a poem about the power of love and the destructiveness of memory, the cliché of the femme fatale, and the obsession with guilt. The troubled love story between the Russian countess Natka and the young diplomat Giorgio La Ferlita weighs on the tragic past of the woman. In the sweetened and rarefied world of a fictional aristocracy, unattainable Dannunzian characters are driven by extreme passions. The film becomes a luxurious stage for the divine

Pina Menichelli, who offers here a symbolic interpretation of the excessive and artificial acting that marks and distinguishes some of Italy’s silent cinema.

The music score harmoniously combines jazz and a classically inspired musical language, offering the audience a musical experience distant but at the same time perfectly matching the film’s flow. Stefano Maccagno’s piano echoes late romantic and impressionistic influences in combination with an always balanced contemporary touch, emphasizing the film’s dramatic tension. Furio Di Castri’s jazz scores wonderfully match all interior sequences, while his solo improvisations give the filmic narration an intriguing atmosphere.

“After the success of Inferno 1911, we are pleased to invite once again Maestro Stefano Maccagno and jazz musician Furio Di Castri to the U.S. for another exciting original project promoted by the Istituto,” says Luca Di Vito, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute. “The new film concert, Tigre Reale, will tour in seven cities in our jurisdiction, covering six states in our jurisdiction from the Midwest to the South. We are very proud to be able to bring such culturally relevant initiatives to our communities in Chicago and beyond, also thanks to important collaboration with local institutions.”

The restoration of Tigre Reale was carried out by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema of Turin in 1993, starting with a

tinted and toned nitrate print donated by Giovanni Pastrone to Maria Adriana Prolo in 1959. The restoration was carried out by the l’Immagine Ritrovata Laboratory in 1993. The 4K digitization of the restored version was carried out by the Museo Nazionale del Cinema of Turin at L’Immagine Ritrovata Laboratory in Bologna in 2018. The musical accompaniment for this edition was composed and performed by Maestro Stefano Maccagno.

The Vince Chiarelli Band Continues a Rich Musical Legacy with

the New Album “Under the Mediterranean Moon”

Seasoned musician Vince Chiarelli, who carries the torch of a musical heritage dating back to his grandfather, Vince Chiarelli, a Sicilian immigrant and founder of Vincent Records and Vincent Chiarelli Publishing Co., announces the release of a new album, “Under the Mediterranean Moon.” This latest work is a heartfelt tribute to the Italian and Latin melodies passed down through generations, now infused with modern flair and rhythmic innovation. Chiarelli’s close bond with his grandfather not only fostered his musical talents but also instilled a profound appreciation for traditional Italian and Sicilian songs. Since his grandfather’s passing a decade ago, The Vince Chiarelli Band has been dedicated to bringing Vince Chiarelli’s original compositions and Italian-American classics to life, performing across the country and imbuing each performance with the soul of his family’s legacy.

The album’s title track, originally a waltz penned by Chiarelli’s grandfather, has been transformed into a Bossa Nova by The Vince Chiarelli Band, blending the romantic serenade of Italian nights with Latin rhythms. This innovative style, which the band dubs “Flamenco Italiano,” aims to reignite the passion for Italian music with a fresh and contemporary twist.

Joining Vince Chiarelli on this album are longtime bandmates Frank Calvagna on lead guitar and Tim Austin on drums, whose expertise and artistry have been integral to the band’s sound for over a decade. “Under the Mediterranean Moon” features an eclectic mix of original songs by Vince Chiarelli and beloved classics, such as “Bésame Mucho,” “Mambo Italiano,” “Roma Nun Fa’ La Stupida Stasera,” and “Sabor a Mí,” all arranged to evoke the ambiance of a Mediterranean escapade.

Listeners are invited to be transported to a vibrant café in Italy or Spain, lost in the romance and allure of dance. With the strum of guitars, the groove of bass and drums, and the distinctive rhythms of Latin percussion, “Under the Mediterranean Moon” is more than an album—it’s a sensory journey across cultures and time. “Under the Mediterranean Moon” was available on Valentine’s Day on all major streaming platforms and for purchase at vincechiarelliband.com. Visit thevincechiarelliband.hearnow.com to hear clips of songs on the album.

About Vince Chiarelli

Vince Chiarelli comes from a bloodline of music tradition. Vince started singing Italian songs at just 18-months-old, showing everyone his musical talent. Not only did he inherit his grandfather’s name, but he keeps the legacy of his grandfather, Vince Chiarelli Sr.’s music, alive. “The Vince Chiarelli Band” was started by Vince Chiarelli in order to continue the legacy left by his grandfather, a Sicilian immigrant who

achieved international success in the music business as a songwriter and musician. In March of 1967, Vince Chiarelli Sr. started a record label that Vince runs today. Vince grew up hearing stories of his grandfather playing in Nashville and his heavy involvement in the Chicago music scene. In Italy, Vince Sr. played with Franco Li Causi, the famous Italian musician known in the U.S. for his music in the Godfather movies. Vince studied this type of music and continues to embrace the authentic Italian-American style of music while also putting his own unique twist on it.

It has been over 50 years since Vince Chiarelli Sr.’s music shook the walls of The Barn Recording Studios in Nashville, where he recorded his hits of the 60s. Vince Chiarelli is continuing to play his grandfather’s songs and other Italian standards that influenced him so that he can continue to show the influence Italian music and culture have had on American popular music. When people think of Italian music, the first thing they may think of is opera, or perhaps the music that their grandparents would listen to. While “The Vince Chiarelli Band” pays homage to Italian music and its culture, they are not your grandmother’s Italian music.

Vince and his grandfather’s story was documented by the City of Rockford, Illinois in a video on Vimeo.

OLYVE Beauty is a brand new international beauty line dedicated to fullbody care, offering two products: a hair mask and a full-body cream. Both products are made of olive derivates and olive tree leaves coming from the founder’s family and their 15,000 olive trees, offering a unique body care experience while being a sustainable brand at its core. Both of its products are made of

natural sources, the olive tree leaves, that, in the process of creating olive oil, are usually going to waste.

Regarding the ingredients, olive derivates and leaves are exclusively Nocellara del Belice, a particular cultivar that has a higher content of oleuropein compared to other cultivars. The leaves are harvested between January and February (the coolest months in Sicily) as it increases the percentage of oleeuropein,

a key active ingredient in the leaves. This health-giving extract contains more vitamin C and antioxidants than the amount we find in green tea extracts, along with a wide range of essential amino acids. Thus, this unique ingredient immediately helps soothe skin and blur imperfections while restoring it with balanced nutrition inspired by the healthy Mediterranean diet.

OLYVE Beauty products are food for the entire body and centered around the

‘Skinification’ concept, treating the full body with the same attention or by applying the same product that goes into our skincare routine, whether it is a product for the hands, neck, or face. Based on this concept, Olyve Beauty formulates products that contain a wide range of beneficial nutrients, including phytonutrients like oleuropein and vitamins and minerals. Every product is vegan, natural, sustainable (key ingredients at km zero), dermatologically tested, and made in Italy.

The two Olyve Beauty products are:

The hair mask is a product that can be applied to the hair as well as the scalp, providing the benefits and nutrition that come from the olive oil without making the hair oily or affecting the sculp. This hair boost mask is full of nourishing, antioxidant, and regenerating ingredients and is presented and packaged in an airless tube. Thus, it can be used under the shower efficiently without wasting material, while its 100-ml size is perfect for travelers.

The body cream is destined to nourish the entire body, allowing consumers to have one cream for everything: the neck, hands, feet, and body. It is moisturizing without being as greasy as olive oil tends to be, and it lasts longer on the skin. It is a beautiful balance between a body butter (thick and longer absorption time) and a body cream (lighter texture and instant soft feel). The scent of the product reminds one of the Mediterranean sea breeze, olive trees, and wood. The product comes in a glass jar that prevents the cream from being affected by the outside temperature, ensuring maximum results.

All products can be shipped within all of Europe (EMEA). For more information and links to their social media pages, visit olyvebeauty.com

About the Founder:

Sahara Seidita, the founder of Olyve Beauty, is originally from Sicily, Italy. She grew up in this beautiful natural landscape with 15,000 olive trees. Her family has successfully developed an olive oil production and

distribution business that has been active for three generations now, since 1922. Sahara experienced the process of olive oil creation so closely for years, and when the concept of Olyve Beauty matured, she decided to create something unique and nurturing for the body in an effort to fight the waste that comes with the olive oil production process while giving a natural solution to one of our main skin’s problems, dehydration.

Sahara spent many years in Asia, and this is where she started becoming more aware of skin aging. Following the COVID lockdown period, she made the decision to leave her 10-year career in the corporate world, work for her family’s business, and launch Olyve Beauty. In this process, she learned that olive trees have as many or more beneficial properties than olives themselves, so she started developing these products that would provide maximum nutrition and care, offering the gifts of the olive trees to the body while being sustainable and vegan. Her mission is to make people’s bodies healthy and beautiful.
