A research study in the musicological field led the pianists Buttiero and Frumento to discover the score “The Divine Comedy for piano four hands” by Cesare San Fiorenzo, original for piano four hands. The score, forgotten for more than 100 years, offers extraordinary and evocative melodies very close to the operatic world of the great composer Giuseppe Verdi. The two musicians developed a strong bond of friendship and often met in the city of Genoa. The program includes a transcription of Opera arias by Verdi taken from Rigoletto and Trovatore and a Sonatina by Manzino, a composer from Savona, the city where the two pianists live.

In 2022 Elena and Anita recorded the San Fiorenzo’s Divine Comedy in the CD entitled “Non sembiava imagine che tace.”

Elena Buttiero graduated in piano at the Turin’s Conservatoire ‘G. Verdi’, she held concerts in several Italian cities, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, France, Romania, Czech Republic, Serbia, United States, Canada, Tanzania, Argentine and Uruguay. She published two CDs as harpist with Birkin Tree: Continental Reel and A Cheap present. With Carlo Aonzo, she published Il mandolino italiano nel Settecento and Fantasia poetica. The Duo was awarded with the Ligurian Region Price, Cultural section. In 2012, she recorded the CD Arethusa Consortium for two Celtic harps repertoire and plectrums, Saluti dall’Italia in 2013 and Lontano nel mondo in 2015 devoted to Luigi Tenco’s songs. In 2021 she published the CD The Baroque Hurdy-Gurdy at the French Royal Court with Francesco Giusta. In the didactic field she published for Carisch/Hal Leonard editor solfege and piano methods. She is the artistic director of the Mozart Savona Association and of the Allegro con Moto Association.

Anita Frumento graduated from the Conservatory of Cuneo and obtained a Level II Academic Diploma in Piano and Chamber Music with full marks and honors, studying at the Conservatory of Genoa and at the Conservatory of Piacenza. At the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland she completed a Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy and attended the Elementary Music Education seminars held by Silvia Klemm. She has participated in important festivals in Italy and abroad, collaborating with the Ensemble Nuove Musiche of Savona, the Savona Symphony Orchestra, the ‘900presente Ensemble and the Research and Development Division of the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland, premiering some works by emerging contemporary composers. She has been a teacher at the MAT Artistic Center in Lugano (Switzerland) and the Teaching Director of the Classical Music Section. She has been a piano teacher at the Liceo Musicale in Busto Arsizio (near Milan). In September 2023, she will be a piano teacher at the Liceo Musicale di Albenga in Liguria. She is a managing member of the APS Nuovi Contesti Sonori in Clusone (Bg).
