“From day one of this crisis, every decision Westgate Resorts made was based on one simple premise: How to best protect our Guests, Team Members and the local community,” said Mark Waltrip, Chief Operating Officer of Westgate Resorts.

“Just as important, we recognize that many businesses may not possess Westgate’s extensive resources to develop such comprehensive procedures. Therefore, it is our hope that sharing this vital information will help everyone reopen safely and reduce the spread of this terrible pandemic.”

The program’s enhanced safety measures include advanced cleaning procedures, strict personal hygiene protocols and a long list of specific operating procedures aimed at mitigating the virus's risk. Westgate also

made its standard operating procedures and policies publicly available to help other businesses and entrepreneurs in crafting their own individualized procedures.

In addition, as states began sheltering in place, Westgate turned its attention to those in the community who were most at need, strengthening the bond with its more than 74 nonprofit partners across the United States. Food donations, totaling tens of thousands of dollars, continue weekly to various nonprofits such as United Against Poverty Orlando, the Christian Center of Park City and dozens of similar organizations supplying essential meals and care kits to families in need.

Following the CDC’s recommendations, WestgateCARES then implemented a unique program to pay its own employees and supply them with the necessary materials to sew masks from the safety of their homes.

To date, more than 6,500 masks, created

by Westgate Team Members, have been donated to nonprofit organizations and hospitals throughout the country.

“At Westgate, we know we are only as strong as we are united, and we intend to make it through this together,” said Waltrip.
