Soccer The 2012 women’s soccer team concluded its season with a 9-9 overall mark and a 5-2 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin record. Senior forward Emily Hinchman was named to the second team of the NCAA Division III all-Central region squads for women’s soccer, as chosen by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. A first team all-CCIW selection for the fourth straight season, she finished this year with seven goals and a team-high nine assists. David Barrett, who enters his 13th year as head coach, is looking to build on the successes achieved by recent squads — the team has qualified for the national tournament four of the last five years.

Softball The 2013 Titans finished the season with a 32-11 overall record and an 11-3 conference record. The team earned a spot in the Division III national tournament, marking IWU’s 12th NCAA tournament appearance. Senior softball standouts Emma Clark and Keri Leach were chosen to the second team of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2013 Division III All-American squads. Both players were earlier named to the all-Great Lakes Region team and were first team all-CCIW. Kat McCreery, a 2004 IWU graduate and former Titan softball player, was named as the new coach in July 2013.

Swimming The 2012-13 Titan women’s swim team finished third in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin meet. Senior Katie McHugh qualified for the championship finals of her event and earned third place in school-record time in the 200 butterfly at the NCAA Division III Swimming Championships. She also placed 16th in the national meet in the 500 freestyle. Freshman Kirsten Slaughter earned an all-American status as honorable mention after finishing 16th in the nation in the 50 freestyle. Teresa Fish is entering her 18th year as head coach and was named the CCIW “Women’s Coach of the Year.”

Track & Field The Illinois Wesleyan women’s track & field team finished tied for 22nd place in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Senior Tara Clemens finished second in the 800 meter finals, just milliseconds shy of breaking her own IWU school record. Clemens, the winner of the national indoor 800 meter run at the NCAA meet, was elected to the second team of the Capital One Academic All-American® squads for women’s track & field/cross country. Chris Schumacher, a two-time Division III “Coach of the Year,” begins his 17 th season as head coach of his nationally competitive program.

Volleyball Senior middle hitter Alex Hill was chosen as the “Most Valuable Player” for the 2012 Illinois Wesleyan volleyball team. Hill, who was also the team’s “MVP” as a sophomore, was a first team
