Silver Lining
Change was needed And last spring the world heeded. It was scary, dark, and new But globally educators figured out what to do. As days, weeks, months went on as it would seem, Kids began to learn and grow although behind a screen. Through it all many positive things came And my hope is some things will never be the same. Most importantly, educators are viewed as superheroes to all, Their hard work and dedication not just in the fall. Technology is embraced and used every day, Once a challenge for most, now leading the way. Dissecting standards and changing up content, Adjusting curriculum and seeing where best time is spent. Big conversations have happened and change has begun More focus on children and less on testing funds. Standardized testing isn’t as important as mental health, Providing more resources and support than ever, knowledge is wealth. Teachers shared ideas and strategies from near and far, Learning and leaning on one another like nothing before. Professional development is more flexible and formatted online, You can learn and grow as an educator and pause in real time. Kids are excited and eager to be at school, Before there was a time when learning was uncool. More time is spent with family and we came together as one, Board games, movie nights, and bonding resulted in more fun. Taking a step back, and looking at education as a whole, 2020 was a year I hope we never forget, Education has been changed forever, it was truly a gift.
