“The fundamental reason for beginning a programme is to realise benefits through change.” – (MSP) If you agree with this statement and are investing in change programmes you must ensure that the benefits you have identified are delivered and maximised. But recent analysis found that: “Only 38% had a formal/structured benefits management approach.” – (APM/Deloitte) The result? – investment in change is being wasted. Organisations are not delivering the maximum benefit/value from their change programmes/ initiatives. Benefits Management is the ‘business end’ of change management i.e. it is the delivery of the value the change initiative was conceived to deliver. This practical detailed course will enable you to manage the benefit and value process from identification through to delivery based on real world experience, ensuring that you maximise the benefits delivered and the return on your investment in change. This course will take you on a journey that starts with the wider context and challenges of change management and the business case for change, and then focus in detail on the tools and techniques to maximise the benefits delivered through the benefits management process. You will work with a case study through the whole benefits management process from identification through to delivery, providing you with practical tools and guidance throughout which you can use to improve your and your organisation’s benefit maximisation capabilities.

Course Methodology All sections covered within the course will comprise: • Interactive PowerPoint presentations – copies of which will be included in your course materials • Case studies – used throughout • Interaction and discussion – are encouraged to maximise delegate learning from the course director and from each other • Practical exercises – you will work in groups on practical activities throughout the course In addition to all course notes, you will take away many tools and techniques which you can apply within your own organisation.

Who Should Attend? Anyone involved in any change activity including: • Change management professionals • Programme/project managers • Programme Management Office (PMO) managers/members • Business case owners • Senior Responsible Owners (SRO) • Business Change Managers (BCM) • Departmental managers Senior managers within organisations will also benefit from attending.

“The senior management team across the organisation are the catalyst for successful benefits realisation … benefits realisation should be a core strategic skill for all senior managers.” (APM, 2011)
