Hope is Alive | Get Involved! Hope is Alive exists to inspire hope, build foundations and radically change the lives of individuals and families impacted by addiction. Hope is Alive has enjoyed incredible success turning brokenness into beauty, shame into sobriety and helping facilitate the restoration of hundreds of lives. The second chance stories are endless; fathers returning home, marriages restored, families re-united, young adults returning to college and men and women becoming productive, healthy, working citizens in their communities.

Hope is Alive provides Mentoring Homes for individuals transitioning back into the real world from treatment and correctional facilities. Over the past four years their five mentoring homes have enjoyed a 70% success rate for all residents and a 100% success rates for all graduates! Their success is found in their long-term (18 month), customized, intentional program that gives the addict the opportunity to not only establish a strong foundation of sobriety, but a firm footing in all facets of their lives. Residents leave their program equipped emotionally, professionally, spiritually, and financially along with a toolkit of life skills that enable them to contribute mightily to their respective Oklahoma community. IIDA Oklahoma City Center recognizes a need in our community and has decided to help! We will be accepting donations from the following lists at all CEU’s:

The IIDA Texas Oklahoma Chapter Excellence in Design Awards recognize the highest quality and achievement in Interior Design, and honor the creativity and innovation of the best of Texas and Oklahoma designers. This year’s Best in City Center award for Oklahoma City went to Boynton Williams & Associates. There to accept the award was Katelyn Bell, Project Manager/Interior Design at Boynton Williams & Associates. The IIDA Texas Oklahoma Chapter Pinnacle Awards represents the highest honor that the IIDA Texas Oklahoma chapter can bestow upon a design firm and is granted to firms that have consistently contributed to the highest aspirations of the profession of interior design, to the community and to IIDA. The nomination itself is a great honor and indicates that firms have indeed reached a “Pinnacle” in reputation for service to the community, the profession and IIDA. This year’s recipient of the award for a Medium Sized Firm went to Rees. There to accept the award was Paige Fruits, RID, IIDA, Interior Designer at Rees. OIDC | OIDC Hosts Fundraiser & Social Event for Senator Dan Newberry An evening of wine, hors d’ oeuvres and political discussion prevailed at OIDC’s fundraiser for Sen. Dan Newberry held in Tulsa on October 26th. Senator Newberry, who was up for re-election, has assisted OIDC with legislative issues concerning the Interior Design profession. A diverse group, including IIDA and ASID members of all ages, and Lobbyist Jim Newport attended the event. $700 was raised for the Senator’s campaign.

OIDC is hopeful the event also encouraged more to engage in advocating for the Interior Design profession. OIDC would like to thank Carolyn Fielder, ASID with Campbell Design Associates for generously hosting this event at her office. Carolyn, along with Suzie Woody, Martina Gangel and Larry Synar presented information about their advocacy service, going as far back as 1985. Their experience underscores the point that advocacy efforts have deep roots and remain necessary today to maintain and grow the future for our profession.
