Every year in July, as our Texas Oklahoma Chapter Board kicks off a new year at our annual retreat, we decide on a guiding theme for the upcoming year --- something to tie together all our plans and goals for the year and drive our direction as a Chapter. It may sound like an easy task, but when you gather together 25 passionate design professionals who all have lofty aspirations for the next twelve months, it is quite a challenge to land on one word that is strong enough to convey all of that energy. This year, we were inspired by the word “unite.” As the largest Chapter of IIDA, with more than 1,500 members in eight city centers spread across 300,000 square miles, it is a continuous goal to ensure we are providing programs and content that are both engaging and beneficial to all of our members – nor matter if you are a student, a junior designer fresh out of school, a firm principal, or a manufacturer’s representative, or whether you live in a big city like Dallas or Houston or a smaller city like Tulsa or El Paso. Exciting things are coming your way to “unite” you with other members of the Texas Oklahoma Chapter. We are bringing you new resources, like this newsletter and a brand-new Chapter website design, and we are bringing you new ways to connect with the 1,500+ members of the Texas Oklahoma Chapter with new opportunities for the live-streaming of our events and programs! Keep your eyes and ears open for more details to come, and I hope you will all “unite” in excitement over what the Texas Oklahoma Chapter has in store for this year! - Jennifer King IIDA TXOK President
This year at the IIDA SACC, we want to focus on our members, our supporters, and the interior design industry while making a positive impact on our city of San Antonio, TX. My goal is to bring valuable and meaningful programs to our city center. We were lucky to have Donna Vining, from TAID speak on the power each of us have on legislative issues that will shape our profession. As a council, we will continue to provide beneficial opportunities such as CEU’s, project tours, and volunteer opportunities. There are programs and events planned for all member types and professional levels including an 11-month curriculum in the spring that will help to develop young local designers. SALVATION ARMY ANGEL TREE
IIDA San Antonio City Center members helped organize, sort, and pack toys at the Salvation Army Angel Tree Toy Shop this December. The Angel Tree program provides toys at Christmastime for those in need throughout our community.

SPIRIT OF SAN ANTONIO
IIDA Spirit of San Antonio is our annual fall fundraiser that supports industry advocacy efforts. This event is also a vendor showcase and celebration of design for the San Antonio A&D community. Vendors creatively used their products to create a carnival themed table top display. The evening was full of food, drinks, silent auction, raffle, games and more!
