IIDA TXOK DALLAS CITY CENTER NOVEMBER 2018

Every year in July, as our Texas Oklahoma Chapter Board kicks off a new year at our annual retreat, we decide on a guiding theme for the upcoming year --- something to tie together all our plans and goals for the year and drive our direction as a Chapter. It may sound like an easy task, but when you gather together 25 passionate design professionals who all have lofty aspirations for the next twelve months, it is quite a challenge to land on one word that is strong enough to convey all of that energy. This year, we were inspired by the word “unite.” As the largest Chapter of IIDA, with more than 1,500 members in eight city centers spread across 300,000 square miles, it is a continuous goal to ensure we are providing programs and content that are both engaging and beneficial to all of our members – nor matter if you are a student, a junior designer fresh out of school, a firm principal, or a manufacturer’s representative, or whether you live in a big city like Dallas or Houston or a smaller city like Tulsa or El Paso. Exciting things are coming your way to “unite” you with other members of the Texas Oklahoma Chapter. We are bringing you new resources, like this newsletter and a brand-new Chapter website design, and we are bringing you new ways to connect with the 1,500+ members of the Texas Oklahoma Chapter with new opportunities for the live-streaming of our events and programs! Keep your eyes and ears open for more details to come, and I hope you will all “unite” in excitement over what the Texas Oklahoma Chapter has in store for this year! Sincerely,

Jennifer King, IIDA President, IIDA Texas Oklahoma Chaper

RECENT EVENT RECAP

IIDA ZeroLandfill On October 6th, the Fall ZeroLandfill event took place, providing a second life to unused samples and materials. A big thank you goes to Move Solutions, for without their generosity and sponsorship, ZeroLandfill would not have been possible. With the manpower, materials and fleet of trucks provided by Move Solutions, firms all over Dallas and Fort Worth, were able to provide 41 pallets and 15 large boxes of materials samples for public pick-up that ultimately diverted materials from the landfill. Twice a year, this event celebrates communitycentered design, creativity and helps the environment. We are so thrilled to have the public share photos and hear stories about re-purposing these materials in a creative way. ZeroLandfill has even made it possible for a local family to install floor tile in part of their home. As a cornerstone Total Office Solutions company, Move Solutions is a thirty one year old respected brand in our community. The Total Office Solutions family of companies is an easy “reach for: when you need planning, moving, new or pre-owned furniture, decommission / liquidation. Please call Megan Monette at 214-738-3365 or visit our websites: https://www.movesolutions.com/ and http://www.tospartners.com/.
