CONNECT IIDA TXOK OKC CITY CENTER October 2018

Every year in July, as our Texas Oklahoma Chapter Board kicks off a new year at our annual retreat, we decide on a guiding theme for the upcoming year --- something to tie together all our plans and goals for the year and drive our direction as a Chapter. It may sound like an easy task, but when you gather together 25 passionate design professionals who all have lofty aspirations for the next twelve months, it is quite a challenge to land on one word that is strong enough to convey all of that energy. This year, we were inspired by the word “unite.” As the largest Chapter of IIDA, with more than 1,500 members in eight city centers spread across 300,000 square miles, it is a continuous goal to ensure we are providing programs and content that are both engaging and beneficial to all of our members – nor matter if you are a student, a junior designer fresh out of school, a firm principal, or a manufacturer’s representative, or whether you live in a big city like Dallas or Houston or a smaller city like Tulsa or El Paso. Exciting things are coming your way to “unite” you with other members of the Texas Oklahoma Chapter. We are bringing you new resources, like this newsletter and a brand-new Chapter website design, and we are bringing you new ways to connect with the 1,500+ members of the Texas Oklahoma Chapter with new opportunities for the live-streaming of our events and programs! Keep your eyes and ears open for more details to come, and I hope you will all “unite” in excitement over what the Texas Oklahoma Chapter has in store for this year!

Jennifer King IIDA TXOK President

This year at IIDA OKC, we want to bring the focus back to you, our members, our contributors, the support system of our industry we all love and value. It has been my personal goal this year to improve how we get more information to you and how we can create more meaning to your membership. As a council we hope to accomplish this by creating more professional development opportunities such as bringing in speakers and more project tours, hosting relevant CEUs, providing volunteer opportunities, and other fun ways to get you more for your membership. Being a part of a larger chapter and working alongside our other 7 city centers, has allowed us to see a great potential in what the OKC City Center is and what it can be. We are able to share ideas with our other city centers, find out what works, what doesn’t, and how we can implement those successful ideas into the culture of OKC. While your council works to bring more value to your membership, please remember that this is your City Center and we do our jobs best when we hear from you. Thank you, -

Julie Goetz IIDA TXOK - OKC City Center Director

IIDA OKC BOWL A RAMA 2018

We kicked off our summer with the annual IIDA OKC Bowl A Rama! Bowlers and non bowlers alike came together for the games, fun, and the always delicious refreshments to support IIDA and the Oklahoma Interior Design Coalition (OIDC). J&J Flooring, who so generously sponsored Bowl A Rama, showcased the latest and greatest from J&J and even included a surprise cash giveaway. The FSB team bowled their way to the top and took home the trophy for highest score. We want to thank J&J Flooring for sponsoring and helping make the event such a success. We were able to donate $750 to OIDC towards their membership and advocacy efforts. We look forward to bowling with everyone again next year! October 2018

If you have a passion for advocacy for the interior design profession we would love to have you involved in this committee.
