MedicusRx – Texas Workers’ Compensation Third Party Administrator MedicusRx is the only Texas Physician-owned TPA/URA. We are well-credentialed, well -trained, experienced team of in-house Physicians, Pharmacists, Nurses, Claims Managers, Certified medical coders, and IT professionals. MedicusRx founding principles are quality, integrity, safe and effective medical care. Dr. Trang Nguyen MD, PhD is the President of MedicusRx. Dr. Nguyen is a US medical graduate, Texas trained, board-certified Physician and a clinical researcher. She was formally trained in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and Occupational Medicine. Her PhD is in Epidemiology. She was an Assistant Professor and Medical Director at UT Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, Department of Family Medicine. She has been treating primary care and workers’ compensation patients for 20 years. Her experience includes thousands of physician utilization preauthorization and peer reviews for 38 municipalities and 37 ISDs in Texas, numerous private employers, and attorneys. MedicusRx services include Workers’ compensation TPA claims administration, Cost Containment and Auditing services. We understand Cost Containment Services must work hand in hand with Claims Management to ensure services recommended for the injured workers are safe, cost-effective, and in the best interest of all parties. The claims examiners have direct access to our in-house physicians to increase efficiency, minimize adjustment expenses, communicate with treating providers and to prevent delay in medical care. When our claims team meets to discuss complex cases, our in-house physician’s presence is most helpful in explaining medical findings, diagnostic testing and verifying diagnoses to help the claims examiners better understand, manage, and resolve difficult claims dilemmas. Our physicians are also available to assist claims examiners and legal counsel with their disputes. MedicusRx in-house physicians have been on the Editorial Board of the ODG for 20 years. We taught causation analysis, impairment ratings, and MMI for the AMA and TDI Designated Doctor Courses without compensation. Verifying diagnoses and causation determinations are important factors to address compensability and extent of injury. Our model is unique. We are the only physician owned TPA/URA.
