News and Reviews AUTHOR VISITS TO LONGWELL GREEN Former parent at Longwell Green and published author, Karen Dennent came to visit Year 2 and Year 6 to read to them from her book, Stanley and Jim on a Proper Adventure. The children in Year 6 then took part in a workshop about how to write a picture book, thank you Karen for spending time with everyone! Longwell Green Primary School were also very excited to be hosting CS Clifford, a children’s author from Kent who has been touring the country promoting his latest books. He is a former teacher and his books, about two characters who discover and travel through a time portal, are aimed at KS2 pupils. During his visit he offered a Q&A with KS2 children and then took part in two days of workshops with all the KS2 classes.
SHOPPING IN ALDI? DON’T FORGET YOUR STICKERS Several schools are taking part in Aldi’s Kit for Schools Scheme which is giving every primary school the chance to win £20,000 – all you need to do is collect stickers for the school’s Team GB Tokyo 2020 wall chart, so if you shop in Aldi, please ask for the Team GB stickers and bring them in!
GREEK WEEK AT CHANDAG SCHOOL The Children really enjoyed dressing up for the Greek Week dress up day and they all looked fabulous!
CHANDAG INFANTS GO ECO The eco team at Chandag Infant School met for their first meeting and were all so excited and enthusiastic to share their amazing ideas about how to make the school more eco friendly! This term they will be working towards the bronze certificate for the Green

Tree Award which will involve looking at recycling in school, reducing our energy consumption, for example by making sure lights are switched off in the classrooms when not in use and using energy saving light bulbs.
