U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to Host First Overseas Hiring Our Heroes Events Veterans Jobs Summits to Be Held On Military Installations in Germany This November WASHINGTON, DC—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes program, with support from Hilton Worldwide, Verizon, Call of Duty Endowment (CODE), and HireVue, announced today that it will host two Veterans Jobs Summits this November on U.S. military installations in Germany. The two summits are being hosted in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Army, and the American Chamber of Commerce – European Union. This marks the first time Hiring Our Heroes will host a hiring event outside of the United States. “This marks an extraordinary step for Hiring Our Heroes, to be able to help the men and women who are serving our country thousands of miles from home,” said Eric Eversole, vice president at the U.S. Chamber and executive director of Hiring Our Heroes. “We would not be able to make this happen without the tremendous collaboration of our partners and the support of Hilton Worldwide, Verizon, HireVue, and CODE. Transitioning from the military is made even more challenging when you’ve been serving abroad, and these summits will go a long way toward helping service members and their spouses with that process.” “As a leading global hospitality company, we recognize the importance of giving service members and their families the support they have earned regardless of where they are in the world,” said Rodney Moses, vice president of recruitment, Hilton Worldwide. “These events represent one of the many ways we are working with our valuable partners like HireVue to bring employment services, solutions and resources to our veterans – ensuring that they have access to the right opportunities as they pursue their employment goals.” The first summit will be at Ramstein Air Force Base on November 3rd, and the second will be at U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria on November 5th and 6th. Each summit will feature seminars, roundtables, panel events, recruiter training, networking opportunities, and facilitated discussions focused on supporting service members, veterans, and military spouses as they better position themselves to compete for employment opportunities. Each event will culminate with a Hiring Our Heroes job fair, where service men and women will be given the opportunity to step into HireVue’s video interviewing booths, ‘tell their story’ and demonstrate to employers why they will be a great fit for a potential job

opportunity. “We are extremely proud of our partnership with Hiring Our Heroes and are pleased to expand our outreach efforts overseas to engage with service members looking for meaningful careers at Verizon even when they are far away from home,” said Evan Guzman, head of military programs and veterans affairs at Verizon. This will mark the sixth and seventh Veterans Jobs Summits that Hiring Our Heroes has hosted with its public sector and military partners. These events represent an unprecedented collaboration of private and public sector efforts and resources toward one common goal: connecting transitioning service members to employers. The summits are designed to educate recruiters and community leaders on best practices in recruiting and retaining military employees, while also helping service members and military spouses prepare for the civilian workforce. Previous summits have been held in Fort Bliss, Texas; Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and Camp Pendleton, California, reaching more than 4,000 transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses. A summit at Joint Base LewisMcChord, Washington, is scheduled for October 21-23. Hiring Our Heroes is a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment. Working with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s vast network of state and local chambers and other strategic partners from the public, private and nonprofit sectors, Hiring Our Heroes has helped hundreds of thousands of veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. And as a direct result of more than 780 job fairs in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia, 24,000 men and women have been hired by more than 1,500 businesses. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USCCF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce dedicated to strengthening America’s long-term competitiveness by addressing developments that affect our nation, our economy and the global business environment.
