Each year, the IFOA devotes a number of events to authors and books within a particular focus. In 2015, we are pleased to present two exciting focuses: one on the work of upcoming and established poets from around the world, and the other on the rich culture and vibrant literary scene of Catalonia, which ties into our yearly spotlight on literary translation, Found in Translation.

The Humber School for Writers is once again running their fall workshop during the Festival. Learn from some of today’s top fiction writers, including Aleksandar Hemon, Miriam Toews and Meg Wolitzer. Also at the IFOA, Humber’s School of Liberal Arts and Sciences will present their second annual academic conference, Mapping Nations, Locating Citizens, in which international scholars will explore the themes of nationalism and identity.

Now in its ninth year, the IFOA’s touring programme presents events in 17 Ontario locations, including Brantford, Burlington, Etobicoke, Hamilton, London, Markham, Midland, Oliver Paipoonge, Orillia, Owen Sound, Parry Sound, Penetanguishene, Scarborough, St. Catharines, Thunder Bay, Windsor and Woodstock.
