y the end of this century , the world is facing one of its greatest challenges: “Health for all by Year 2000”. "Are we any close to fulfilling this dream ?" A question in the mind of many worldwide health organiza tions. Lots of changes are occur ring throughout the world with the purpose to provide health to the largest number of peo ple with the cheapest possible ex penses. Among these changes, the drift seen in selection of medical specialties among medical students toward preventive and internal medicine rather t han o t h e r sp e c ialties. Medical students know that if they are planning to prac tice in the next century they better be prepared for this change in medical care. Medical institutions in the world are helping these students to be exposed as much possible to this change by increasing the allotted time for ambulatory medicine and public health rotations . Medical Student International and IFMSA believe that public health is a very im portant tool in order to prevent diseases before their occurrences rather than facing them when its already too late. We dedicated this issue to ex pose medical students to Public health by its different aspects. We ¨ÝÔ

hope to succeed in delivering the message . We w o u l d l i k e a l s o t o t h a n k M s . Matsumoto and Dr. Boelen from WHO for their contribution to this issue . Also a special thanks to the News agency "Europe To day" in Brussels that provided us with the lo gistics for editing this issue.
