Preprofessional study in health sciences and law Pre-med and pre-law are not majors at CU Boulder. Preprofessional advisors are available to help you explore law, medicine or other health programs and will help you prepare for law school or a healthcare-related professional school. We recommend choosing a major that you are interested in—ideally one that you are passionate about— because, while your major does not affect your chances of admission to a professional program, how well you do and the grades you earn do affect your chances.

Be connected. One of the best parts of our university is the surrounding work-life balance. Students balance work, study and recreation by getting involved on campus and making friends outside of the classroom. We have one of the most active college campuses in the nation, where recreation, sports and student groups play a key role in the CU Boulder experience. Our community is inclusive and known for its welcoming and friendly environment.

Intramural & club sports

We offer students many ways to get involved through sports teams, which are a fun and easy way to meet new friends and find community on campus. Teams engage in traditional sports, such as basketball, snowboarding and taekwondo, as well as sports like ultimate Frisbee, broomball and inner tube water polo. colorado.edu/recreation

Clubs & organizations

Students can choose from among more than 400 clubs and organizations, with a variety of opportunities to meet any interest, including academics, ethnic culture, leadership, environmental issues and much more. Our CU International club allows students from around the globe to socialize during weekly International Coffee Hour and Where’s the Food Friday outings. sofo.colorado.edu

Freshman housing

All incoming first-year students are required to live in the on-campus residence halls their first two semesters. The 24 halls offer opportunities in academics, community and other areas of interest. Residence halls have male and female residents; however, most halls have single-gender floors. Most rooms are shared with one other student, and roommates are always of the same gender. living.colorado.edu

Freshman dining

In addition to living on campus, students are also required to have a meal plan their first year. CU Boulder’s dining program is one of the best in the nation, offering a variety of daily menu options that can accommodate almost anyone, including those with food allergies as well as vegetarian, kosher and halal diets. living.colorado.edu
