Coeval is a UK-wide specialist provider of robust, LED road sign based systems that advise, inform, educate and protect communities - helping create a safer environment.

Coeval delivers infrastructure technology that advises and informs users to help create a safer environment. They do this through various intelligent radiolinked LED road signs and systems that provide clear, reliable, and flexible messaging, data, and connectivity to feed more comprehensive highway information control systems.

Coeval offers a wide range of technical solutions from speed, hazard and safety to parking, and overheight issues. These can be supplied as new units or adapted to make use of existing street furniture to meet individual customer needs.

The company has a powerful range of products for which they either have sole distribution rights or own the technology. CEO Gary Higgins explained: “We use the latest LED technology, and renewable energy such as solar and wind power. We have won the ‘Variable Message Sign Company of the Year’ four times in a row. We keep being told our signs are the best in the UK, and you can’t get better than that.”

Speed Indicator Signs

Coeval helped Arriva UK Bus improve safety around their Luton depot by alering drivers to a 5mph speed limit on site and influencing their behaviour to slow down. Speed Indicator Signs were installed. A speed of less than 5mph shows in green; above the limit shows in red.

These vehicle-activated signs are robust, with high-power LEDs that can be seen clearly even in inclement weather.

They were quick and easy to install, meaning minimal disruption to the bus depot. Once installed, they immediately raised awareness to drivers’ speeds and improved the safety on site.

Over-height Vehicle Detection

To protect a bridge from being struck by high vehicles, Scottish Water implemented a protection project that included deploying four of Coeval’s Overheight Vehicle Detection Systems (OVD).

The OVD systems provided advance warning to high-sided vehicles approaching the bridge, allowing drivers to take an alternative route.

Coeval carried out a full turnkey installation project, including civil works.

Cloud Control System

Poor air quality is a big environmental threat to health. Coeval have supplied various solutions from parking / route guidance to Over-height Vehicle Detection (OVD) and Hazard Warning, all of which help reduce congestion and, in turn, reduce air pollution. They also supplied LED message signs for the Birmingham Clean Air Zone.

With the implementation of air quality sensors, Coeval can publish air quality levels on their intelligent signage to help raise awareness and encourage changes in travel behaviour. 
