Le soleil est au zénith, les clapotis de l’eau se brisent sur la coque du bateau et la crème solaire est tartinée sur tout le corps … oui, nous sommes bien en été (enfin, je pense, car vu la météo exécrable de ce printemps ! ). Pour ce numéro, nous avons la chance d’avoir un shooting hommage à David Bowie réalisé par le célèbre photographe Rankin et son équipe, plein de news sur de nouveaux et talentueux créateurs, pas mal d’informations sur les produits de soin naturels (même dans votre assiette !), une jolie ballade dans la ville éternelle : Rome et aussi un paquet d’idées de sorties culturelles de jour … comme de nuit !

Bref, de quoi vous faire passer un bel été en toute quiétude afin de recharger les batteries pour septembre. Avec ce numéro, nous accueillons aussi 2 nouvelles collaboratrices très sympas : Julie Allar et Florence Baudoux qui nous parleront de mode et de culture dans les prochaines publications d’Idole.

The sun is for the top, the lapping of the water break on the hull of the boat and the suntan cream is spread on all the body …. yes, we are well in summer (finally, I think, because seen the execrable weather of this spring !). For this number, we are lucky enough to have a shooting tribute to David Bowie realized by the famous photographer Rankin and his team, much news about new and talented designers, quite a lot of informations on the natural care products (even in your plate !), an attractive ballad in the eternal city : Roma and also a package of ideas of cultural outings day .... as night ! In brief, of what make you pass a beautiful summer in complete peace to recharge batteries for September. With this issue, we also welcome 2 new very nice collaborators : Julie Allar and Florence Baudoux which will speak to us about fashion and about culture in Idole’s next publications.

IDOLEMODE Cette collection est disponible pour la première fois et en exclusivité en Belgique, à la Boutique Anamar ouverte il y a peu par Marina Anouilh et Sabine Schoen Aleksic à Bruxelles. Issue d’une célèbre et iconoclaste dynastie, Loulou commence une carrière de mannequin pour Vogue et de rédactrice de mode pour le magazine britannique Harper’s & Queen. A New York, où elle se lie avec des artistes tels que Robert Mapplethorpe ou Andy Warhol et pose pour les plus grands photographes : Richard Avedon, David Bailey mais aussi plus tard, par Helmut Newton, Steven Meisel ou Bettina Rheims…

En 1968, Loulou fait la connaissance du jeune couturier Yves Saint Laurent. Elle s’installe à Paris et devient sa muse, insufflant une fraicheur et une fantaisie inédites à la haute couture parisienne. Elle devient l’incarnation de l’élégance parisienne à la fois désinvolte et excentrique.

Créatrice de bijoux et d’accessoires pour Yves Saint Laurent, elle crée par la suite sa propre marque lorsque celui-ci cesse son activité.

Créée à l’été 2014, Maryne Bassot est une jeune marque française dans le domaine du balnéaire haut-de-gamme. Il s’agit d’un nouveau concept de maillots de bain réversibles qu’il est possible d’embellir avec de véritables parures de bijoux amovibles et interchangeables. L’ECOLOGIE AUX BOUTS DES PIEDS Edel Van Riet est un enseignant anversois mais aussi surtout un aventurier. Il y a trois ans, il a pris la route de l’Amérique latine pour y travailler comme bénévole au Guatemala, guider des randonneurs sur les volcans du Nicaragua ou explorer la jungle mexicaine pour enfin, naviguer sur la mer des Caraïbes jusqu’en Colombie. En randonnant dans les montagnes du Mexique, il a fait la connaissance d’une tribu indigène particulière : les Rarámuri. Une rencontre significative car il a été fasciné par la simplicité et la créativité avec lesquelles les Rarámuri fabriquent leurs propres chaussures. À l’aide de rubans, ils attachent un morceau de pneu à leurs pieds. Sur ces sandales fait-main, ils courent des dizaines de kilomètres par jour. Plus tard, il apprend que les Rarámuri sont justement connus pour leur technique de course procurant une endurance infinie.

IDOLEMODE De retour en Belgique, Edel a décidé de poursuivre son aventure en concevant ses propres sandales Rarámuri. CARTON VIP !

VIP est l’abréviation de Very Important Pixels, une collection de sweaters, t-shirts et marcels présentant des portraits iconiques formés de pixels. Ce label a été créé en 2015 par Kristof Saelen, un graphiste de la région de Malines. L’idée du concept existait déjà. Elle est née lors d’un

travail de création de carte de visite pour lequel Kristof Saelen a choisi de représenter chacun de ses collaborateurs par une image pixelisée.

Par la suite, Saelen a continué à produire des visuels pixelisés. Le portait de Michael Jackson qu’il réalisa suite à la mort du roi de la pop connut un succès considérable, ce qui le conforta dans l’idée de réaliser une collection de portraits basés sur le même principe. À l’origine, l’artiste se laissa inspirer par sa passion pour les jeux vidéo des années quatre-vingt.

La technique de création demande beaucoup de temps : chaque portrait est élaboré manuellement, pixel après pixel. Après avoir réalisé une dizaine de versions numériques, il assemble les meilleurs fragments, de façon à ce qu’on puisse reconnaître le résultat final au premier coup d’œil.

Rencontre avec une jeune styliste qui n’a pas peur de dire ce qu’elle pense. Doriane Van Overeem n’est pas une petite nouvelle dans le paysage de la mode belge. Présente depuis plusieurs saisons, son style grunge-chic s’impose par l’intelligence des messages forts que ses collections transmettent.

Elle représente par son engagement, sa ténacité et surtout sa créativité une génération qui a décidé de faire bouger les choses.

Qu’est-ce qui te plaît dans la mode ?

En ce moment, plus grand chose. J’ai le sentiment que rien ne fonctionne ni ne m’excite. Le fast-fashion m’insupporte et le marketing est devenu plus important que le produit lui-même. J’essaye donc à mon niveau d’engager une révolution, d’encourager les gens à réfléchir autrement et à consommer différemment.

Comment définirais-tu ton style ?

C’est un style grunge-chic où le raffinement des matières délicates et romantiques flirtent avec la nonchalance d’une attitude impertinente et anticonformiste aux messages forts et engagés.

Tu as donc un style bien trempé, a-t-il été influencé aux cours de tes différentes rencontres ou stages ?

J’ai fais plusieurs stages dont deux qui m’ont réellement marqués. Chez Manish Arora, j’ai été impressionnée par leur travail de broderies, leurs associations de couleurs et leur souci du détails.

Mais c’est chez Meadham Kirchhoff que j’ai été la plus marquée, c’était les premiers mecs féministes que je rencontrais. Ils se disaient : « ça doit pas être facile d’être une femme dans le monde d’aujourd’hui…»

Il est donc claire que tu es une créatrice engagée. Quelles sont les causes qui te tiennent le plus à coeur ?

Dernièrement avec ma collection SS16 « Don’t tell me to calm down », il est question d’hystérie féminine : pourquoi une femme qui s’énerve ou revendique ses idées, est-elle toujours considérée comme folle ?

Alors… qu’un homme est considéré comme fort et viril ?

Chacune de mes collections dénoncent des incohérences sur la position de la femme dans le monde actuel.

IDOLEMODE En plus d’être féministe, toute ta production se fait en Belgique. Pourquoi avoir fait ce choix qui n’est clairement pas évident à mettre en oeuvre et encore moins à financer ?

Ce n’est pas vraiment un choix mais plutôt une évidence. Je ne supporte plus la manière dont on consomme à outrance que ce soit au niveau de la mode, de la nourriture ou même des médias. Je suis convaincue que le slow fashion est la solution et que ce doit être une prise de Photo © Doriane van Overeem conscience collective.

Tout simplement pour préserver notre planète mais aussi les êtres humains qui travaillent dans des conditions déplorables.

Mais sans oublier aussi l’envie de promouvoir et d’encourager un savoirfaire belge en phase de disparition…

Aujourd’hui, tu dirais que ta marque en est où ? Quels sont tes projets pour le futur ?

Aujourd’hui ma marque à enfin son identité, son ADN clair et je suis convaincue de l’impact de mes revendications. Pour le futur, je voudrais que ma marque profite d’un meilleur réseau de distributions et de continuer mes collaborations avec d’autres artistes.

HYERES / Véritable baromètre de la mode.

L

e festival de mode et de photographie d’Hyères a eu lieu du 21 au 25 avril 2016 et a frappé fort grâce une sélection de jeunes créateurs haut en couleurs. Le festival s’est déroulé sur le magnifique domaine de la Villa Noailles. Véritable tremplin artistique, le cette évènement a déjà révélé pas mal de talents au fil de toutes ces années comme Viktor & Rolf, Anthony Vaccarello, Christian Wijnants, Léa Peckre,… pour ne citer qu’eux. Cette année, c’est au tour de la maison Paco Rabanne d’être mise à l’honneur. Son directeur artistique Julien Dossena lui-même lauréat de deux prix, il y a dix ans revient comme président du jury. Comité, qu’on peut largement qualifier d’éclectique, était composé de personnalités de générations et d’horizons différents comme le chausseur Pierre Hardy, la créatrice de bijoux Charlotte Chesnais, le musicien Surkin, le réalisateur Romain Gavras, la rédactrice

IDOLEMODE mode du Vogue américain Anna Wintour ou encore Coco Capitain une étudiante en photographie.

Du côté des dix finalistes mode, une constante revient : l’optimisme. La couleur et l’excentricité sont monnaies courantes à Hyères mais cette année, elles sont particulièrement présentes. Idole vous présente les candidats qui ont retenue notre attention par leur univers créatif actuel et original.

Il est agréable de remarquer qu’année après année, ce festival mettant à l’honneur et encourageant de jeunes talents n’a pas perdu de son attrait et même séduit toujours. « Contrairement à ce que l’on pourrait croire, le marché n’a jamais été aussi propice aux jeunes marques à la vision singulière. Notre clientèle cherche aujourd’hui à montrer son appartenance et son individualité en arborant une griffe à peine connue » dit Tomoko Ogura, directrice de la mode pour le grand magasin Barney’s à New York et également membre du jury.

Wataru Tominaga / Lauréat du grand prix du jury Ce n’est autre que le créateur japonais Wataru Tominaga issu de la Central Saint Martins de Londres qui remporte le grand prix du jury avec sa collection transgenres. Le styliste constate que les vêtements masculins sont souvent ternes et privés de fantaisies contrairement à la mode féminine qui se permet beaucoup plus d’excentricité. Il s’inspire des groupes marginaux comme des geek ou des hippies qui s’échangent leurs vêtements entre garçons et filles. S’en suit une collection où la superposition, les rayures, les couleurs vives et chamarrées dominent.

Amanda Svart / Prix du public C’est la jeune styliste Suédoise qui remporte le prix du public avec sa collection femme « FromFlow ».

Elle s’inspire des sculptures abstraites de Barbara Hepworth en gardant une palette de teintes sobres de blancs, de gris et de noirs associée à la souplesse de matériaux naturels comme le coton, la laine ainsi que la soie où elle laisse la gravité créer de nouveaux volumes.

C’est de Shanghai que ce jeune créateur Belge répond à mes questions. Passionné de mode et plus particulièrement de maille, Gilles Werbrouck nous parle de son univers et de son parcours déjà très remarqué. Véritable globe-trotteur, c’est entre la Belgique, l’Angleterre, l’Italie et maintenant la Chine qu’il se forme et s’exprime.

IDOLEMODE Comment tes passions pour la mode et la maille ont-elles commmencées ?

Ma passion pour la mode a commencé jeune, je me souviens avoir été très impressionné par les robes de bal que ma maman avait gardées de sa jeunesse. C’est ma grand-mère les cousaient son travail était impressionnant. C’est ce qui m’a décidé à me lancer dans la mode.

C’est au cours de mon cursus en stylisme et modélisme à la Haute Ecole Fransisco Ferrer et plus particulièrement, lors de mon stage chez Annemie Verbeke, que mon intérêt pour la maille a commencé. J’ai découvert tout d’abord ce qu’est la maille, comment la travailler, l’éventail des possibilités qu’elle offre et surtout, ce qui m’a plu et poussé à approfondir mes connaissances, la proximité du créateur avec sa création.

Quelles sont les techniques que tu affectionnes particlièrement ?

La base de mon travail est de mélanger l’industriel et l’artisanal.

Mais ce que j’apprécie particulièrement c’est d’expérimenter et d’apprendre de nouvelles techniques ou l’intéraction entre-elles et le rendu visuel unique que cela apporte à la création.

Je travaille essentiellement le macramé, le tricot main, le crochet, la maille industrielle,…

Comment travailles-tu en règle générale lorsque tu commences une nouvelle collection?

Je commence toujours par rechercher un thème ou un concept fort qui m’apporte l’inspiration nécessaire tout au long du développement de ma collection.

Et donc, quelles sont tes inspirations ?

Elles sont diverses et variées. Elles dépendent du projet sur lequel je travaille.

Par exemple, lors de la création de costumes pour une performance l’année dernière à Florence, j’avais décidé de travailler avec des films de bandes magnétiques vidéo comme fil intégré dans mes créations moulé près du corps pour faciliter le mouvement sans perdre l’effet visuel captivant.

Ma dernière collection était inspirée des tribus en Papouasie Nouvelle-Guinée et les insectes.

J’avais choisi ces deux thèmes tout d’abord, pour leur force de caractère visuel mais également pour l’aspect sociologique et les parallèles avec notre société actuelle que l’on peut en tirer. Pour la collection sportswear sur laquelle je travaille en ce moment, j’ai puisé mon inspiration dans les empreintes digitales et la peau, dans les agrandissements de cellules au microscope.

Tout ça passe par le dessin, la création d’imprimés qui sont ensuite traduits en maille industrielle.

Pour les photos il faudra encore un peu attendre c’est confidentiel pour le moment…

Je passe ensuite à la recherche de visuels qui vont influencer la coupe des vêtements, les couleurs, les motifs,... Le dessin prend une place importante dans mon processus de création car basé sur mes recherches, je dessine des silhouettes et des impimés. Vient ensuite le choix des fils et matières, la façon dont je les tricoterai et pour finir la manière dont je construirai le vêtement.

« Mon style est conceptuel et expérimental, l’innovation prend une part importante dans mes recherches et mélange de tech- niques.

Le corps me sert de canevas dans ma recherche de volumes. » Tu travailles donc à Shanghai en ce moment, comment t’es-tu retrouvé là-bas ?

J’ai entendu parler d’un concours, qui s’appelle le Santoni Pioneer Program, il y a quelques mois. Santoni est un fabricant Italien de machines spécialisée dans le tricot sans couture. Ils ont implanté une branche de la société à Shanghai il y a quelques années et ont mis sur pied cette collaboration qui

Le but étant de nous faire découvrir leur technologie, nous donner l’opportunité de l’utiliser et de repousser ses limites avec au final, l’opportunité de présenter nos projets à Spinexpo.

C’est une opportunité assez exeptionnelle ! Que penses-tu faire ensuite ?

Jusqu’ici, j’ai eu beaucoup de chance. La maille est un media qui me correspond bien et me permets de m’exprimer pleinement.

Les expériences que j’ai pu vivre jusqu’ici ont toutes été riches en rencontres et en apprentissages. Les personnes que j’ai rencontrées sont toutes ouvertes à l’idée de faire avancer les choses, de repousser les limites techniques, visuelles et esthétiques.

J’attends de voir ce que m’apportera cette experience une fois terminée.

Ensuite je pense revenir en Belgique et partir à la recherche de la prochaine opportunité qui me fera avancer dans ma carrière internationale.

Dans un premier temps, il me

C’est bien connu, le problème quand on veut mincir, c’est la perte

Mais nous ne sommes pas là pour passer en revue les nouveautés de l’enseigne. Ce qui a attiré notre attention, ce sont les makislims ! Une collection qui allie saveur, esthétique et surtout légèreté.

IDOLEBEAUTE Au programme : makislim crabe (crabe des neiges, mayonnaise ponzu, concombre, pomme verte, salade, gingembre mariné, tobiko), makislim César (poulet mayo, concombre, tomate, roquette, basilic, parmesan, sauce César). C’est frais, original et équilibré.

Et pour réaliser vous-même vos makislims saumon, il vous faut : 85 g de riz vinaigré, 15 g de saumon, 10 g de concombre, 10 g d’avocat, 4 g de feuilles de riz, 3 g de masago (œufs d’éperlan), quelques feuilles de menthe et de coriandre, une dizaine de feuilles de salade verte, un filet de mayonnaise.

Recette : makislim saumon 1. faites tremper la feuille de riz dans de l’eau chaude afin qu’elle devienne souple. Puis égouttez-la au maximum et disposez-la bien à plat sur le plan de travail.

2. posez dessus un morceau de feuille de salade. Prenez une boule de riz et étalez-la en un rectangle de 7 cm sur 15 cm. Posez cette boule sur la feuille de salade.

3. coupez le saumon, l’avocat et le concombre en lamelles de 15 cm et ajoutez-

les, avec la menthe et la coriandre hachées menu, sur la salade. Enfin, versez un trait de sauce et déposez le masago au centre.

4. pour rouler le maki, rabattez la feuille de riz sur la garniture puis roulez en veillant à bien serrer le rouleau afin qu’il ne se détache pas. Coupez en six parts égales. www.planetsushi.fr

What’s new in the culture world !

Voici quelques idées de sorties culturelles à faire de jour comme de nuit pour cet été 2016. « SOUS LES GRANDS ARBRES » SCULPTURES ET DESSINS DE VINCENT BARRE MUSEE MATISSE, LE CATEAU CAMBRESIS 01/05 - 18 /09/ 2016

Cette exposition, initiée en 2006,

lors d’une carte blanche donnée par le Musée Matisse au Cateau-Cambrésis à la Galerie Bernard Jordan, met en exergue le lien saisissant qui existe entre le travail de Vincent Barré et les oeuvres d’Henri Matisse ou encore Giacometti. Vincent Barré est de ceux qui ont regardé Matisse, et les sculptures Petit torse mince, la série des Dos ainsi que les papiers découpés Océanie le ciel, Océanie la mer du maître des lieux constituent des “marqueurs” pour le travail de Vincent Barré. Cela constitue l’occasion unique d’un contact direct entre ces quelques oeuvres de Matisse, présentées en regard des sculptures et des dessins de Vincent Barré.

IDOLECULTURE Ces objets tutélaires expriment ce qu’il y a de rapport au corps et à la nature dans son travail, et ce qu’il doit à l’oeuvre de Matisse. L’exposition véhicule par ailleurs un rapport intérieur/ extérieur en lien avec l’architecture modulable du bâtiment de Laurent Baudouin. Dans le cadre du projet d’exposition, 70 oeuvres se déploient dans la cour d’entrée du musée, dans la salle d’exposition temporaire et dans le Parc Fénelon.

Sculptures et dessins sont rassemblés pour interroger la figure du corps, dans une dialectique nature/culture, intérieur/extérieur, dedans/dehors, plein/vide, ombre/lumière.

L’artiste propose des oeuvres majoritairement de grandes dimensions, en fer, aluminium, bronze, bois, acier, fonte ou encore grès de Sèvres qui dialoguent entre elles et qui correspondent à la période de 1999-2015.

Cette exposition noue un dialogue ouvert et amplement déployé dans l’espace entre une sélection d’ensembles d’œuvres de Calder et plusieurs travaux de Peter Fischli et David Weiss. Les points forts qui en dessinent le fil conducteur retracent des moments historiques déterminants de la création de Calder. ISABELLE DE BORCHGRAVE EST A LA GALERIE BERKO CET ETE !

Isabelle de Borchgrave est un nom qu’on associe volontiers au Design,

à la Mode et au papier. Depuis 40 ans, son coup de pinceau enchante le monde de la maison, de Caspari aux Faïenceries Gien en passant par Villeroy & Boch. Au cœur de son travail, il y a la peinture. Ses majestueux grands plissés en papier sont aujourd’hui exposés dans le monde entier.

En 2012, l’artiste crée ses premières sculptures en bronze, dérivées directement de ses créations en papier. Celles-ci sont murales, décoratives, ou des pièces de mobilier. Elles emplissent l’espace par leur légèreté suggérée, et illuminent le lieu par leur modernité.

L’exposition à la Galerie Berko à Knokke-le-Zoute, présentera la nouvelle collection de plissés en papier d’Isabelle de Borchgrave, directement inspirée par les couleurs de la mer du Nord si chères à l’artiste ainsi que ses nouvelles pièces en bronze (tables, guéridons, consoles, …) qui sont autant à leur avantage dans un salon que dans un jardin.

Le Domaine de Ker-

guéhennec célébrera cet été le trentième anniversaire du parc de sculptures, créé à l’initiative du ministère de la Culture et du Fonds régional d’art contemporain (Frac) Bretagne.

C’est donc, très naturellement, avec ce même Frac Bretagne qu’il revisitera, à travers un regard croisé sur les collections, la notion de Paysage.

L’exposition présentée avec le Frac Bretagne questionnera le paysage dans la diversité de ses dimensions – esthétique, économique, culturelle, politique... C’est l’un des axes forts de la collection du Frac Bretagne, depuis sa création, et de la programmation artistique du Domaine. L’exposition investira la totalité des espaces (château, écuries, orangerie, parc). On y trouvera, entre autres, des œuvres des artistes présents dans

Réunie depuis les années 1950 par un passionné des arts, cette collection hors normes, à la fois cohérente et d’une diversité remarquable, n’a encore jamais été présentée au public.

UNE NUIT AU ZOO !

Situé dans le Bois de Vincennes, sur un terrain

de la Ville de Paris, le Parc Zoologique de Paris est un établissement culturel et scientifique appartenant au Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle. Inauguré en 1934, il n’avait connu aucun véritable programme de restauration.

Deux ans après sa réouverture, le Parc Zoologique de Paris propose toujours plus d’animations, de rencontres avec les professionnels, de programmes, de découvertes... La vie du Parc, c’est également des naissances et anniversaires : le premier anniversaire des trois lionceaux Atlas, Shani et Kibo, la naissance de manchots humboldt, addax et lémurs, ...

IDOLECULTURE Pour les mois de juin et juillet, tous les jeudis, des nocturnes sont proposées jusqu’à 22h avec un « apéro zoo » possible jusqu’à 01h. Durant les nocturnes, un programme original en accès libre attend les visiteurs : assister à la rentrée d’animaux phares du zoo (otaries, girafes, babouins, lémuriens) commentée par l’équipe animalière, et participer à des activités ludiques et interactives (quizz, jeu de plateau, points rencontres...).

Ceux qui le souhaitent pourront pique-niquer au cœur des biozones en observant les animaux sauvages. Des soirées exceptionnelles qui, jusqu’à 22h30, laisseront libre court à la flânerie dans les allées du parc au soleil couchant sur le grand rocher.

Cet été, le Parc Zoologique de Paris invite tous les curieux et noctambules à vivre une expérience originale : ce public en quête de nouveauté vivra l’étonnante expérience des Fêtes de nuit, inaugurées en 1935.

Au menu de ces soirées estivales : ambiance guinguette, programmation musicale, cinéma, cocktails, tapas, bonne humeur... et en tendant l’oreille entre deux morceaux de musique, les visiteurs les plus attentifs pourront peut-être percevoir, au loin, un feulement ou entrevoir la lueur de pupilles brillant dans la nuit. De 19h30 à 22h30, happy hour pour débuter la soirée du jeudi.

VILLERS-LA-VILLE, UNE AVENTURE SPECTACULAIRE !

Chaque été, des milliers de spectateurs

(20.000 en moyenne) se rendent à Villers-laVille pour y vivre un moment théâtral épique et populaire hors du commun. Pour fêter ses 30 ans, Del Diffusion s’offre Amadeus, un spectacle flamboyant, emmené par une grande équipe dans une mise en scène ample, une scénographie monumentale, au sein d’une abbaye métamorphosée par les projections d’images et enveloppée des plus belles musiques de Mozart....

A L’ORIGINE Le hasard fait parfois bien les choses ! C’est le producteur d’une émission de la RTBF (télévision belge) qui parla à Patrick de Longrée, de la reprise de la gestion du site de l’Abbaye de Villers-La-Ville par la province du Brabant Wallon. Patrick qui venait d’abandonner ses études de philosophie pour se lancer dans la production théâtrale (sa vraie passion depuis toujours), monta aussitôt le projet d’un grand spectacle dans les ruines de cette abbaye. Obtenir l’autorisation prit un peu du temps mais elle arriva en 1987. Sachant que Dominique Haumont rêvait de monter le Barabbas de Ghelderode, les deux jeunes inconscients se sont lancés dans l’aventure, très vite rejoints par Rinus Vanelslander et une importante équipe de création. Ce premier spectacle fut un grand succès critique et public qui donna le coup d’envoi à la longue série de succès qui suivirent.

En tant que producteurs, Patrick de Longrée et Rinus Vanelslander sont impliqués à tous les niveaux de la création : ils génèrent les projets et font appel à des metteurs en scène avec lesquels ils conçoivent les spectacles, choisissent les distributions, engagent les collaborateurs artistiques et réunissent l’équipe technique. Ce qui caractérise leur collaboration est leur complémentarité : Patrick de Longrée assure la direction artistique, travaille sur le développement des projets, les relations publiques et la recherche de sponsors et Rinus Vanelslander assure la direction administrative, la logistique de production et la gestion générale.

Des prouesses scénographiques

30 spectacles et pas moins de 76 dispositifs scéniques construits sur mesure dans le site de Villers-la-Ville ! Et il faudrait plutôt parler de démesure ! Certaines scènes ont fait jusqu’à 30 mètres d’ouverture, d’autres ont atteint des hauteurs vertigineuses, d’autres se sont déployées comme des labyrinthes !

Dans le registre de la démesure, certaines scénographies sont restées mémorables comme : • l’immense cage d’acier de Barabbas (scénographie de Christian Guilmin) suspenduedans la croisée de l’église : un dispositif colossal pesant 7 tonnes de trois plateauxsuspendus sur une hauteur de 15m en un seul

IDOLECULTURE axe mais pouvant descendre par 4 moteurs pour ne former qu’un seul plateau !

• les cloches de Quasimodo (scénographie de Patrick de Longrée) dont la plus grande, haute de 6 mètres, suspendue quasiment au sommet des deux tours de l’église.

• le décor d’Hamlet (scénographie de Christian Guilmin) reconstituant toute la façade du cloître en plan incliné se fissurant en son centre grâce à des vérins hydrauliques dissimulés sous le plateau.

• l’une des scènes de La Belle au Bois dormant (scénographie de Lionel Lesire) constituée tout simplement d’un couloir étroit surélevé faisant quasiment toute la longueur de l’église abbatiale, soit près de 75 mètres !

• l’énorme boule à facettes pour Jesus Christ Superstar (scénographie de Patrick de Longrée) d’un diamètre de 2,5 m constituée de centaines de miroirs de 5 cm de côté.

• Le décor de Pinocchio (scénographie de Patrick de Longrée) composé de passerelles enchevêtrées totalisant une longueur de 175 mètres !

Voici quelques chiffres qui peuvent vous donner la mesure de l’important travail déjà accompli : De 1987 à 2016, 30 spectacles théâtraux d’été auront été programmés à Villers-la-Ville, 589 comédiens ont été engagés, 312 collaborateurs artistiques, 244 constructeurs de décors, 75 maquilleuses,

THE ECOLOGY IN THE ENDS OF FEET Edel Van Riet is a teacher from Antwerp but also especially an adventurer. What do you like in fashion ?

Those days , not so much. I have this feeling that nothing is quite working around nor excites me. The fast fashion makes me sick and the marketing has become more important than the product itself. Therefore I’m trying to change that by making people think and buy differently.

How would you define the style of your brand ?

It’s a “Grunge-chic” style where the refinement of delicate and romantic materials flirts with a nonchalant and sassy attitude reinforced by Strong engaged messages.

You have a sturdy style. Has it been influenced by people you met or during your interships ?

I did several internships including two that really marked me. At Manish Arora, I was impressed by their embroidery work, their colors combinations and their attention to the details. But it was at Meadham Kirchhoff where I was most impressed by the people I was working with. They were the first feminist guys I have ever met.

They said to me ‘’ It must be hard to be a woman in this world today...”

It’s clear that you are a committed designer. What are the causes most close to your heart ?

My last collection SS16 « Do not tell

me to calm down» is about female hysteria : why a woman who gets upset or claims her ideas is still considered as a crazy person while a man is considered strong and virile ? Each of my collections denounces inconsistencies on the position of women in our society.

In addition to be feminist, all of your production is 100% made in Belgium.

Why did you make this choice that is clearly not easy to implement and even less to finance it ?

It’s not really a choice but more an evidence. I can’t not stand the way we consume excessively in fashion, food or even medias. I’m convinced that the slow fashion is the solution and it must be a collective consciousness. Simply to preserve our planet but also to protect the people who work in terrible conditions.

And to finish, the desire to promote and encourage a Belgian craftsmanship slowly disappearing.

Where would you say your brand is today ? What are your futur projects ?

Today my brand has finally her own identity, a clear DNA and I’m convinced of the impact of my claims, my motos on the outside.

For the futur, I’d like for my brand to enjoy a better distrubution networks and I’d like to continue my collaborations with other artists.

It’s from Shanghai that this young Belgian designer answers my questions.

Passionate about fashion design and especially knitted design, Gilles Werbrouck speaks about his universe and his carrer that was already remarked.

Real globetrotter, it’s between Belgium, England, Italy and now China that he formed and expressed.

When did your passions for fashion and knit started ?

My interest in fashion started quite early on, I remember being blown away as a child by my mother’s ball gowns that she kept. It’s my grandmother who used to sew it, her work was so impressive. That’s what send me down this path. It’s during my bachelors in fashion design at Francisco Ferrer school and especially during my internship at Annemie Verbeke, that my interest in knit started. Firstly I discovered what it actually was, how to work with it, the range of possibilities it offers and most importantly – reason why I liked it so much and pushed me to deepen my knowledge for it – how closer the designer is with his design.

What are the techniques you like to use and why ?

My work is based on the mixt of industrials and artisanal technics.

But what I especially like is experimenting and learning new technics.

The interaction between them and the unique visual record that it can bring to the creation. I mostly work with macramé, hand knit, crochet and industrial knit.

What’s your process whenever you start a new collection ?

Always first looking for an interesting concept that will be able to inspire me throughout the development of my collection. Then I start collecting imagery that will help me work on the shape of garments, colors and patterns. Drawing takes an important place in my creative process. After my research I draw looks and patters.

I then decide on which yarn I will use, the way I’ll knit them and how the garment will be constructed.

So, what are your inspirations ?

They’re very diverse and depend on the project. For example I had to create costumes for a performance happening in Florence last year. I decided to use VHS video tape integrated in very much fitted garments to allow the dancers to move freely but without losing a visual appeal for the viewer. My last collection was inspired by tribes in Papua New Guinea and insects. I chose those 2 main themes because of their strong visual appeal but also because of the sociological aspect they have and the parallel that could be drawn with our modern society. “ My style is conceptual and experimental, innovation takes an important part in my research and mix of techniques. The body is used as a canvas when it comes to volume research.”

About the collection I’m currently working on, it took more of a “sportswear” direction. I took my inspiration based on finger print and magnified skin cells. I then started drawing, Create visual patterns that will be translated into industrial knit afterwards.For the pictures, it’s confidential for now…

IDOLE.ENGLISH So you work in Shanghai at the moment, how did you end up there ?

I heard about a contest called the Santoni Pioneer Program a few months ago. Santoni is an Italian knitting machine manufacturer specialized in circular knit. They implanted a branch of the company in Shanghai a few years ago and started this collaboration consisting in having a few European designers joining their team in Shanghai on a capsule collection using their machinery. The point is to discover their technology, give us the opportunity to use it, discover and push it’s boundaries and once we are done they exhibit the final products in Spinexpo which is a knit specialized fair held twice a year in Shanghai and New York.

PLANET SUSHI launchs makislims, new ally thinness Already precursory the last year with its offer veggie, the sign doesn’t stop innovating and throws this year its selection gluten free. The inescapable being unquestionably the surprising recipes in the black rice such as «black veggie», «black Ringo» or still «black avogado». Nothing to say, we adore their look.

But we aren’t there to review the novelties of the sign. What drew our attention, they are makislims ! A collection which allies flavor, esthetics and especially lightness. To the program : makislim crab (crab of snows, mayonnaise ponzu, cucumber, green apple, salad, marinated ginger, tobiko), makislim Caesar (chicken mayonnaise, cucumber, tomato, rocket, basil, parmesan cheese, wipes Caesar). It’s fresh, original and wellbalanced.

And to realize yourself your makislims salmon, you need : 85 g of rice with vinegar, 15 g of salmon, 10 g of cucumber, 10 g of avocado, 4 g of sheets of rice, 3 g of masago (eggs of smelt), some mint and coriander leaves, about ten green salad leaves, a trickle of mayonnaise.

Recipe : - soak the sheet of rice in some hot water so that it becomes supple.

Then drain it at the most and arrange it flat well on the work-top.

Take a ball of rice and spread it in a 7 cm rectangle over 15 cms. Put this ball on the salad leaf.

ISABELLE DE BORCHGRAVE IS IN THE GALLERY BERKO THIS SUMMER !

FROM 5 TILL 17 AUGUST 2016 Isabelle de Borchgrave is a name that we associate gladly with Design, fashionable and with paper. For 40 years, her brushstroke enchants the world of the home, Caspari to Earthenware factories Gien including Villeroy & Boch. At the heart of the work, there is a painting. Its majestic big paper wrinkled are exposed today all over the world. In 2012, the artist creates its first bronze sculptures, came from directly from its paper creations. These are wall, ornamental, or pieces of furniture. They fill the space by their suggested lightness, and illuminate the place by their modernity. The exhibition in the Gallery Berko in Knokke-le-Zoute, will present the new collection of wrinkled paper of Isabelle de Borchgrave, directly inspired by the colors of the North Sea so loved to the artist as well as its new bronze rooms (tables, pedestal tables, consoles, …) which are as much for their advantage in a lounge as in a garden.

LANDSCAPED CONTEMPORARY ON THE 30 YEARS OF THE PARK OF SCULPTURES THROUGH THE COLLECTION OF THE FRAC OF BRITTANY DOMAIN OF KERGUEHENNEC in JUNE 26TH > IN NOVEMBER 06TH, 2016 The Domain of Kerguéhennec will celebrate this summer the thirtieth anniversary of the park of sculptures, created on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and the regional Fund of contemporary art (Frac) Brittany. It’s thus, very naturally, with the same Frac Brittany that it will revisit, through a look crossed on collections, the notion of Landscape.

The exhibition presented with the Frac Brittany will question the landscape in he diversity of its dimensions - esthetic, economic, cultural, political... It’s one of the strong axes of the collection of the Frac Brittany, since its creation, and of the artistic programming of the Domain. The exhibition will invest all of spaces (castle, stables, orangery, park). We shall find there, among others, works of the present artists in the collection of the park (Richard Artschwager, Elisabeth Ballet, François Bouillon, Jean-Gabriel Coignet, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Toni Grand, Étienne Hajdu, François Morellet, Maria Nordman, Jean Pierre Raynaud, Carel Visser). A PRIVATE COLLECTION FOUNDATION OF HERMITAGE IN JUNE 24TH > IN OCTOBER 30TH, 2016 The Foundation of Hermitage dedicates its big exhibition of the summer, 2016 to one of the most beautiful collections deprived of Europe, shown exclusively in Lausanne. Including hundred paintings, sculptures and installations, the demonstration offers a new exploration of the western creation of the XXth and XXIth centuries. Gathered since the 1950s by an enthusiast of the arts, this exceptional collection, at the same time coherent and of a remarkable diversity, was still never presented to the public.

· The Pinocchio’s decoration (scenography of Patrick de Longrée) made up of muddled footbridges adding up a 175 meter length ! Here are some digits which can give you the measure of the important work already carried out : Of 1987 in 2016, 30 theatrical shows summer will have been programmed to Villers-la-Ville, 589 comedians were engaged, 312 artistic collaborators, 244 builders of decorations, 75 makeup women, 76 made-to-measure builded decorations, 993 costumes, 693 representations and more than 400 km of cablings !

In 29 years, 557.700 spectators attended the first 29 editions.
