2016 at a glance The 2015 refugee crisis shows that the European refugee system is broken and must be fixed urgently, IDLO’s DirectorGeneral declares during an address to the Austrian Parliament in Vienna.

As part of its effort to develop an improved accountability framework, IDLO strengthens its commitment to open and full reporting on funds received by joining the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI).

Implementation commences of the first sub-program under the IDLO-managed Indonesia-Netherlands Rule of Law Fund, on making environmental regulations work for the people.

Ukrainian Public Service Center opens in Mariupol in the conflict-ridden region of Donetsk, as part of an initiative to decentralize government services across the country and promote anti-corruption.

As part of the GQUAL campaign, IDLO, CEJIL and other partners highlight the importance of the representation of women on international adjudicatory and monitoring bodies, such as tribunals and human rights commissions, as a component towards women’s empowerment and equality during the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

The Paraguay Supreme Court presents its methodology to verify and monitor the procedural and other conditions of people deprived of their liberty as part of an exchange of knowledge between Paraguay and Honduras brokered by IDLO.

Business, religious and civil society leaders hear from prison inmates in a forum organized by IDLO in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, that discusses how allowing ex-convicts to reintegrate into society as productive citizens can significantly contribute to curbing violence.
