By Peter Jones A man was killed and his female passenger critically injured shortly after 11 a.m. on April 14 when another vehicle crashed into their motorcycle on Santa Fe Drive near Aspen Grove shopping center in Littleton. Their names had not been released at press time. According to a city press release, the driver and passenger

were taken to a nearby hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead. “No helmet was on his head and he was bleeding everywhere,” said Pat McLachlan, a driver who had stopped at the accident scene. “They had to pull the motorcycle off the driver. He got hit really hard.” A bystander attempted CPR on the driver before the arrival of an ambulance, McLachlan

said. No further update on the passenger’s condition had been provided by press time. No charges had been filed. According to McLachlan, the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash remained on the scene and appeared to be younger than the age of 21. Santa Fe Drive was closed at Mineral Avenue for about four hours during the accident rescue.

Man killed in Littleton motorcycle crash

his year’s Lone Tree Photographic Art Show & Sale received more image submissions than ever before. In its 11th year, the show was flooded with 606 entries from 214 photographers wanting to participate in the annual event. Ninety-three images from local and international photographers were accepted into the Photo Show, which is on display at the Lone Tree Arts Center April 20 to June 9. Juror Weldon Lee said, “The number of great images submitted for this year’s Lone Tree art show was staggering, which made the jury process extremely challenging. Every category was packed with outstanding photographs.” He says that in order to narrow the field, he focused on images that told a story over those that were technically perfect. The Photo Show opens with a cocktail reception on Saturday, April 20, 3 – 5 p.m., at LTAC. Guests are invited to meet the photographers, sample hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, enjoy a string quintet performance

by the Lone Tree Symphony Orchestra, and purchase original works of juried images and photographers’ bin work images. While at the Photo Show, guests can cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award, which is awarded at the close of the show. For the first time, the Photo Show’s entries were divided into four different categories: wildlife; digital art; nature and landscape; and people, places, and travel. This will help with the judging as each category will have first, second, and third place winners along with an honorable mention. There will also be an overall Best of Show winner. Another exciting change to the Photo Show is the addition of a photo seminar conducted by the show’s juror, Weldon Lee. Lee will be presenting a photo seminar titled Photographing the Magical World of Wildlife on May 18, 3 – 6 p.m., at LTAC. Registration is $30 and is open to all levels of photographers. Photographers may register online at www.LoneTreeArtsCenter.org or by calling the LTAC Box Office at 720-509-1000. The Lone Tree Photography Show is presented by the Lone Tree Arts Commission, the Lone Tree Photography Club and Scientific and Cultural Facilities District.
