UNCOVERING, INCLUSION & ANTI-RACISM WORKSHOPS As artists and leaders focused on equity and inclusion, Josh Miller and Hannah Drake have worked with individuals and teams from Nike, Cornett, YUM!, Park Community Credit Union, Merrill Lynch, and more through workshops focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Drake and Miller believe that creativity and art have the power to impact the spaces and cultures where we work and live, and have designed activities and workshops that create safe, trusting spaces for teams and Boards to come together to get vulnerable, and work toward a shared sense of belonging that is inclusive and grounded in equity. Participants from their Uncovering, Inclusion, & Anti-Racism workshops said: "I was worried it would be a very corporate 'here's what racism is and why it's bad' presentation but you both made it so personal, so open, and so real for all of us. I'm more hopeful about the future of my company now than I ever have been." "Incredible. Thoughtful. Full of wisdom. Hannah and Josh bring such an amazing dynamic and broad base of experience and knowledge." "I got way more out of this than I ever anticipated - I wasn't sure what to expect, and kind of thought it might be boring or generic things I already know. But this was truly a life changing workshop for me and I really valued the time I spent in it."

Cornett HQ: Lexington, Kentucky Employees: 47 Sector: Advertising/Marketing Goal of Engagement: Provide our staff with basic language and tools on the topics of Uncovering, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism as Cornett launched our Commitment to Change: a focused effort to build a more equitable culture within our agency and industry.

"By experiencing this together, our agency’s culture has already shifted toward one that’s more inclusive, open and welcoming of all."

Insig hts What learnings from the workshop have you be implementing in daily interactions with each other as a company, as teams, as leadership? We continue to have ongoing discussions about diversity and representation within our process and our work, and are pushing to have these discussions with our clients as well. Changing the way Cornett looks and works is a big priority coming out of the workshop. We know we need to have a more diverse workforce in order to have different voices informing our culture and our work. What type of broad, long-term impact do you think the workshop had on Cornett? Absolutely! It provided an engaging way to address these difficult topics in a way that allowed people to feel safe while still opening up. Proved how the agency as a whole is interested and engaged in committing to the work of uncovering and anti-racism. People are very mindful about the ways in which people may be covering and want to work towards creating a culture where all people/views, etc. is accepted and respected. We at Cornett see this as life-long work and this workshop provided a very strong shared foundation upon which we can build. What were your expectations going into the workshop and how you felt coming out of the workshop about your team's willingness to be vulnerable, and work together to become a more inclusive company? Many times, people come into these uncomfortable conversations with their collective guards up and and in a defensive stance. We were hopeful that the workshop would allow people to open up and engage with difficult topics, and it did. Josh and Hannah approach these conversations in a way that allows people to feel safe and comfortable sharing their experiences and speaking about these topics without fear of being judged. By experiencing this together, our agency’s culture has already shifted toward one that’s more inclusive, open and welcoming of all.

Additional Participant Feedback "Not only does the Showing Up 100 Workshop provide an accessible means for self discovery, it also creates a safe and non-threatening space to learn about and empathize with the experiences of others. No matter what groups we identify with, we all experience the impacts of covering certain aspects of ourselves. The more we take time to listen and be curious - about ourselves and those around us - the more we can support each other to live authentically!" — Jean Dolan, Nike Showing Up 100 Activity

"The programming was inspiring and brilliant." — Keisha Deonarine, Nspire - A Park Community Initiative Uncovering4Inclusion Workshop

“I valued the interactive portions of the workshop. It really encourages you to think outside of your own box. I learned that being vulnerable is not a sign of weakness. Use this as a strength, especially within diversity and inclusion.” — Jessica Reed, YUM! Brands Uncovering4Inclusion Workshop
