† BETTINGHOUSE Joseph David Bettinghouse age 85, of Ionia, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at SKLD Nursing Home in Ionia. He was born November 18, 1937, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sandra August 14, 2021, son Ken Bettinghouse, brothers in law Brian Scott Stowell, Ned Keller and Jerry Fell and his sister in law Jackie Stowell. Joseph married Sandra Stowell in Bradenton, Florida on December 18, 2000. They traveled extensively throughout the United States hauling travel trailers. Joseph is survived by his children Jeffrey Anway of Ionia, Kevin (Kari) Bettinghouse of Ionia and Laura (Gary) Harper of Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Sharon Fell of Portland; Sandy’s siblings Sue (Bill) Bussell Carol Keller, Rance Stowell and Denny (Cindy) Stowell. Joseph was blessed with a large loving family and lived a long adventurous life and to quote the song lyrics from Dancing In the Sky “I hope the angels know what they have.” Graveside Memorial Services will be NOON, Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Greenop Cemetery (Orleans Cemetery) officiated by Pastor James Floyd. There will be a luncheon at the Shiloh Community Church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Joseph’s name be made to the Shiloh Community Church. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

•Maintaining grounds, performing maintenance to facilities, and custodial work in district facilities

Other information:

• 25-40 hours per week (school year 25 hrs. custodial/maintenance + 15 hrs. bus driving) (non-school days schedule to be 40 hours custodial/ maintenance per week)

• Starting date as soon as possible

This position is year-round Monday-Friday

Starting pay $16.12 per hour custodial/maintenance

Starting pay $20.00 per hour bus driver

† GREEN Lucinda (Cindy) Green passed away surrounded by her family on July 2, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Tom Green. She is also survived by her children Jamie (Doug) Myers, Missy (Byron) Robson, Tommy (Melissa) Green, Kim (Nolan) Chapman and grandchildren Amie (Scott), Jacob (Liz), Kendall, Bella, Megan, Cody (Crystal), Samantha (Kurt), Alyson (Trent), Carly, Skylar, Lilly, Nicole, Paul, Keith, several great grandchildren, her brothers Ed and Gary Piercefield and many nieces and nephews. Cindy has many special friends; the West Sebewa Ladies Club, Joyce, Jeanne, Judy, Mary, Kate, Marsha, Vicki and Linda Hoppes, Nancee Morris, Darlene Werner, Mary Sandborn, Donna Thorp, Ellen Maynard, Mary Plowman, and Grandma Blakely.

Gigi will be fondly remembered for always sewing special Halloween costumes, baking her “famous” sugar cookies, and always having the best snacks. No one ever went away from GiGi’s house hungry. Gigi came to every birthday party and special occasion and never was one to miss or throw a good party in her pride and joy “The Building”.

She was so proud of her flower gardens and would spend hours in them putzing around pulling weeds and adding her special statues.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in Cindy’s Building Sunday, August 6th, from 2pm – 5pm. Any cash donations please send to Sparrow Hospice in honor Cindy Green. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com..

† REINHARDT Stanley J Reinhardt age 64 of Saranac, MI passed away July 20, 2023. He was born on February 2, 1959, in Greenville, MI the son of Robert and Erma (Morrison) Reinhardt.

Stanley loved his family and grandkids. He considered his friends as his family too. He enjoyed farming, hunting, being in nature and he could fix anything. He was a stubborn man who was fearless and lived life on the edge, but he had a huge heart, and it didn’t matter who you were it didn’t change him. Stanley attended Impact Church in Lowell.

Surviving is his daughters, Casie Insley of Ionia and Sarah Reinhardt of Saranac; siblings, Tom (Pat) Reinhardt of Saranac, Bev (Tim) Potts of Ohio, Joy Camp of Saranac, Lois Wilbur of Belding, Lyle Griffith of Harrison and Lee (Evie) Griffith of Lyons; brother-in-law, Barry Panter of California; grandchildren, J.J., Briana, Mason, Abby and Audra. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Erma; sisters, Mary Lou Panter and Susie Griffith; brother, Gary Jesse Reinhardt; brother-in-law, Arnie Wilbur and sister-in-law, Tammy Griffith.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of Stanley’s life held at 858 N. Hawley Hwy in Saranac on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at 3:00 PM. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to a college fund for his grandchildren or plant a tree in remembrance of him. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home of Saranac. † ROWLEY Betty Irene (Snyder) Rowley of Ionia, Michigan passed away on July 26th, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.

Betty was born in Elsie, Michigan on December 6th, 1937 to Wavel and Lucille (Grahm) Snyder. She was married to the love of her life James Kenneth Rowley on September 20th, 1958. They were blessed with three children, Karen Sue, James Ford and Edward James. Betty was a cherished member of the Easton United Methodist Church Women’s group where she would often be found dedicating her time to making pies, coordinating luncheons and serving the annual Roast Beef Supper. Betty retired from Chrysler in 1979 after 22 years of service. She then went on to graduate from MCC with an associate degree in business and was appointed as the Easton Township clerk, a position that she proudly held for 33.5 years. In 2021 Betty experienced medical issues and began having home care by a special grand-daughter-in law, Breanne Rowley, taking excellent care of her until her passing.

Betty is survived by her two sons, James Ford Rowley and Edward (Jessica) Rowley both of Ionia. Brothers Tom (Carolyn) Snyder, John (Rosie) Snyder, Bill (Patti) Snyder of Middleville and sister Delores (Dee) and Philly Brunk of Grand Ledge. Grandchildren Bethanie (Ryan) McMahon-Hart, Melissa (Stewart) Owens, Nicholas Rowley, Brittany (Steven) Bryan of Lansing, Jacob (Breanne) Rowley, Ryder Booms and Cash Rowley. She was blessed to have 13 great-grandchildren. Blake Rowley and Juniper Bryan of Lansing. Jazmin, Caleb, Jackson, Harper and Hollis McMahon-Hart. Avery, Ameliah and August Rowley. Shyann, Kenyon and Jett Owens; sister-in-law, Linda Rowley of Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Kenneth Rowley. His parents Kenneth and Helen (Worden) Rowley, daughter Karen Sue Rowley-Reisbig, and her parents. Five brothers Charles, Jack, Ralph, Carl and Alan Snyder and two sisters, Edna Falor and baby Carol. Brother in laws Richard (Dick) and Sandy Rowley and Dave Rowley and a sister-in-law, Anne Lewis. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 1st 11:00 AM at Easton United Methodist Church. Interment Easton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, July 31st from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Welcome to the Fresh Food Bonanza! We are inviting patrons to pick from the many fresh herbs and veggies in our garden, take the pickings home, and create some edible magic in the kitchen!

Patrons can submit photo entries of their delicious creations via email to epock@portlandmilibrary.com for a chance to win a prize. Each week, patrons can submit as many photos as they’d like and a winner will be drawn every Friday until September 25. We can’t wait to see what kinds of tasty plates our patrons will create!

Recommended for ages 5 & under, requires parental supervision, and is limited to 25 patrons.

Calling all LEGO minifig fans! We’re bringing you a LEGO program unlike any other you’ve seen before. But wait, we won’t be building with any LEGO, we’ll be trading them! Bring all the minifigures from home that you are ready to part ways with and trade them with fellow LEGO lovers for their minifigures. Trade parts, trade accessories, trade them how you’d like. Patrons ages 6-12 are invited to register for this program taking place Wednesday, August 9 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Community Room. We can’t wait to see all the trades go down!
