HIGHLIGHTED PROJECTS: Making Cent$ of Abilities (2009 – 2013) Making Cent$ of Abilities was a communitybased initiative funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation that focused employers on the economic benefits of employing persons with disabilities and provided employers with resources to assist them in tapping into the ready skill sets of the disabled workforce. Outcomes: A 3-year strategic plan was developed and implemented to enhance employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Community Coordinator (2010 – 2013 & 2016) Skills Link – Individual Skills Enhancement Program assisted local Employment Ontario service providers with linking young people to the program and the upgrading, training and employment programs that qualified. Young people were eligible for the program if they were between the ages of 15 and 30, legally entitled to work in Canada and Ontario, a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee status in Canada, not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits and in need of assistance to overcome employment barriers. Outcomes: A community coordinator was hired to oversee the program. The coordinator assisted the Employment Ontario service providers with processing potential clients for the program and helped tie the program to local training opportunities. Skills Link – Individual Skills Enhancement Program has had 106 successful clients over 6 contracts.
