Whilst Gavin Mountford, our Brand & Marketing Director, made his debut on the list as a Hidden Hero.

Dear Friends,

Summer has arrived – bringing with it those long, golden evenings that feel like they could last forever. Whether it’s sharing a laugh over lunch on the terrace or enjoying the first taste of something fresh from the garden, there’s something special about this time of year that encourages us to slow down and soak it all in.

Alfresco dining is in full swing across our hotels, with seasonal menus that shine a light on the best local produce – from freshly picked herbs to the finest coastal catches. Over at Chewton Glen, our transformation continues, adding even more beauty and comfort to a place that already feels like home.

We’re also delighted to be opening the doors to Hotel Gran Marbella – our new Spanish escape where coastal charm meets laid-back luxury. And if you’re after a slower pace, our spas and wellness experiences are just the thing – offering calming treatments and natureinspired escapes to help bring a little balance back.

Here’s to sunshine, simplicity, and a season full of feel-good moments. We can’t wait to welcome you.

Best wishes

A TOTALLY DECADANT ROUND-UP

A fleet of iconic cars, a route packed with glorious B-roads and the unmistakable sound of engines echoing through the countryside. Starting at Chewton Glen and finishing in fine style at Cliveden House, it was a journey shaped by the joy of being behind the wheel.

HERE’S TO THE NEXT CHAPTER.

CHELSEA IN BLOOM

11 Cadogan Gardens’ 2025 Chelsea in Bloom installation celebrated Victorian elegance with a grand floral lady in a cascading pink rose gown, framed by delicate blooms. Made with responsibly sourced flowers and recycled materials, blending heritage with modern values.

Hosted by James Martin and joined by The Gentleman Racer, the rally brought together a fantastic mix of classic and contemporary cars, with plenty of smiles and spirited driving along the way. A proper celebration of all things automotive.

GRILL WITH JAMES MARTIN

Guests relaxed in the historic surrounds of Grill as James hosted an unforgettable lunch event, entertaining Q&A session, and plenty of opportunities to grab a selfie.

THE ICONIC SUMMER PARTY

A sparkling night of champagne, music, and summer vibes at Cliveden House, thanks to Wandering Hands, Chris Stark, our teams, and everyone who joined to celebrate Iconic Luxury Hotels in style.

HOT OFF THE PASS

From sunrise to sundown, we’re celebrating just some of the incredible independent producers who bring world-class flavour to our tables.

AN APPETISER…

Meanwhile at Chewton Glen, guests are enjoying delicious artisan meats from Beal’s Farm, producers of award-winning air-dried salami, and chorizo from their cherished herd of outdoor-reared Mangalitsa pigs. Known for rich, flavourful pork, these rare-breed pigs roam freely, foraging acorns, roots, mushrooms and berries, living their lives to the fullest.

THE MAIN COURSE…

Sustainability, provenance and consistency are the watch words of Aubrey Allen, who not only grass feed their cattle on the best natural pastures for a minimum of 18 months, but each of their herd are sourced from the top 1% of British native breeds. These exacting standards produce nothing but the best beef, making it the natural choice to serve our guests at nearby Cliveden House and The Lygon Arms.

THE HOTTEST LITTLE SMOKERY IN THE WEST…

Founded in 2011, Chesil Smokery pride themselves on taking the finest British produce and gently smoking it over oak, apple and peat. Now offering fish and shellfish too, their smoky specials feature at Chewton Glen’s restaurants.

RISING TO THE OCCASION…

Family-run Mark’s Cotswold Bakery serve up literal slices of heaven one artisanal loaf at a time. Visit The Lygon Arms and Cliveden House to be treated to Mark and Sharn’s multi-awardwinning handmade sourdough, freshly baked in the Cotswolds.

AND FINALLY, FOR DESSERT…

Hackney Gelato was founded by Italian chefs, Sam and Enri, who have a passion for authentic gelato and traditional Sicilian techniques. Now served at top spots like The Mayfair Townhouse and Hans’ Bar & Grill, it’s the perfect summer treat.

WITH A SIDE OF

ALFRESCO DINING Sunshine

Dining alfresco under the warm summer sun is a delightful way to unwind, catch up, and while away some time. Make the most of the views and the longer, sun-dappled evenings with our guide to the best places across our properties to do just that.

THE COURTYARD AT THE LYGON ARMS

The Lygon Arms in Broadway offers a charming alfresco dining experience in its suntrap of a Courtyard Terrace, a secluded and picturesque spot ensconced in honey-hued Cotswold stone walls and beautifully landscaped gardens. Open throughout the warmer months, the terrace is perfect for enjoying everything from morning coffee to evening meals under summer parasols, amid flourishing trees and vibrant greenery – it’s also dog-friendly, too. The setting creates an inviting atmosphere to soak up the summer vibes while savouring locally sourced, seasonal dishes curated by celebrity chef, James Martin.

HANS’ BAR & GRILL IN CHELSEA

11 Cadogan Gardens’ serene alfresco dining experience can be sought in the Secret Garden, a tranquil outdoor space in the heart of Chelsea. Open daily from 9am to 10pm, the garden provides a peaceful oasis away from the bustling city, and is ideal for private lunches, drink receptions, or relaxed gatherings with friends. For those who prefer to people-watch, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, Hans’ Bar & Grill, also offers an alfresco option on Pavilion Road. Guests can enjoy modern European dishes and cocktails while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of Chelsea’s longest pedestrianised mews, surrounded by artisanal shops and boutiques.

AFTERNOON TEA AT CHEWTON GLEN

At the main house, afternoon tea on Chewton Glen’s sun-soaked terrace offers a charming and indulgent experience, with the stunning backdrop of the grounds and beautifully fragrant roses. Served daily from 12pm to 4pm, guests can enjoy a traditional selection of a variety of delicate finger sandwiches and freshly baked plain and buttermilk scones with clotted cream, strawberry jam, and lemon curd, followed by an assortment of sweet pastries and cakes. A fine range of British Tregothnan teas are included, with the option to upgrade to sparkling wine or Champagne, and comes served with a soundtrack of birdsong and picturesque views.

THE ASTOR GRILL AT CLIVEDEN HOUSE

Set in the charming old stables, The Astor Grill at Cliveden House provides an informal alfresco dining venue steeped in history and romance. Relax below the ornate clock tower and dine on a contemporary mix of classic American and British dishes from a menu overseen by our Executive Chef, Christopher Hannon, accompanied by a refreshing cocktail or two. For VIPs (very important pooches), there’s also a dog-friendly menu, perfect for four-legged friends after they’ve enjoyed a glorious walk around the grounds.

THE KITCHEN AT CHEWTON GLEN

The Kitchen by James Martin at Chewton Glen offers delightful alfresco dining from the terrace, overlooking the estate. Surrounded by the restaurant’s kitchen gardens, raised beds and a greenhouse where herbs and vegetables are grown year-round, enjoy fresh, garden-to-plate dishes in a casual yet elegant setting. Bi-fold doors open in warmer months, blending the indoor and outdoor experience for those that prefer a little more shelter without compromising on summer air.

ICONIC

HOTELS INTRODUCES

Set on the serene and tranquil shores of Playa del Real de Zaragoza, Gran Marbella Resort & Beach Club is a quietly glamorous Andalusian gem, where deep-rooted cultural connection meets contemporary elegance. The intricate interior design and architecture reflects the region’s Moorish legacy, with sweeping horseshoe arches, local stone masonry and ornate zellige tilework, honouring centuries-old craftsmanship.

Here, you’ll discover an exclusive retreat - choose from a sumptuous selection of suites, including the opulent Royal Marbella Suite, the tranquil Garden Suites, and the breathtaking Terrace Suites, featuring private pools or jacuzzis and unparalleled views.

Intimate courtyards with gentle water features and lush greenery, reminiscent of traditional Andalusian riads, provide a perfect backdrop for weddings and celebrations. With three sun-kissed swimming pools scattered across the hotel’s terrain, there’s space for both family fun and refined adult-only retreats.

The hotel’s connection to its setting echoes across its four restaurants and bars. The all-day dining restaurant celebrates traditional flavours through seasonal and fresh local produce. Cool hangout spaces and bars are scattered throughout the hotel, including the hotel’s Amu Beach Club - the second Amu outpost after Monaco – at the heart of the hotel. With an infinity pool, chic oceanside dining spots, sunset views and direct beach access, enjoy slow lunches and chilled sunset soirées to the backdrop of Mediterranean sounds.

An indulgent spa promises an oasis of tranquillity. Relax and recuperate with treatments, wellbeing rituals and sensory journeys, while a sauna, steam room, indoor swimming pool and plenty of relaxation spaces dissolve tensions from weary souls. A studio provides a sacred space for yoga, meditation, breathwork, Technogym equipment and Pilates classes.

Gran Marbella connects guests with authentic experiences, too – think artisan-led craft workshops, wine tasting, olive oil tasting and immersive fishing and sailing experiences. Located in the heart of one of Marbella’s most unspoilt villages and on the edge of golden sand beaches, explore the very best this corner of southern Spain has to offer.

FESTIVE

It may feel a little premature to mention Christmas in summer, however, our highly sought-after festive house parties sell out fast, so we thought you’d appreciate an exclusive peek at these festive gems…

If your ideal Christmas is steeped in tradition, shared with loved ones, and wrapped in warmth and wonder, our festive escapes promise a celebration to remember.

At Chewton Glen, festive magic fills the air from the moment you arrive. Champagne flows, carols drift through the halls, and the glow of twinkling lights brings a sense of wonder. Indulgent feasts, heartfelt moments, and luxurious touches make this a Christmas that lingers long in the memory.

At Cliveden House, history, elegance and celebration entwine beautifully. From a violinist-accompanied afternoon tea to candlelit dinners and Champagne toasts in the Great Hall, each moment feels like a scene from a festive film. It’s a place where time slows and joy takes centre stage.

At The Lygon Arms, the Cotswolds provide the most picturesque festive backdrop. Roaring fires, carol singers and decadent menus from James Martin create a cosy, convivial Christmas with all the trimmings and a generous helping of cheer.

All three House Parties run from 24-27th December 2025. For a Christmas to remember, book now at your preferred property to avoid disappointment:

CHEWTON GLEN CLIVEDEN HOUSE THE LYGON ARMS

CHELSEA: RESPECTABLE, RISQUÉ – AND UTTERLY IRRESISTIBLE HIDDEN STORIES beautifully revealed

Chelsea is not so much a place as a mood – an evershifting paradox of buttoned-up charm and bohemian spirit. Where pie-crust lace collars meet creative anarchy, and a walk through its streets feels like thumbing through a lavishly illustrated, mischievously annotated novel of English culture.

Here, elegance dances with rebellion. One moment you’re admiring a Georgian townhouse so composed Jane Austen herself might nod with approval: the next, Oscar Wilde, delightfully disgraceful, louchely sips hock and seltzer while quoting Greek tragedy. A few steps on, you’re eyeing a chic jacket on the King’s Road, or ordering a saffron-infused negroni in a former artist’s studio. Chelsea isn’t just a neighbourhood – its pure excitement if you know where to look – a novel you can walk through.

The Chelsea Townhouse is the perfect place from where to explore the neighbourhood. Based in Cadogan Gardens (named after the Cadogan family, who’ve been stewards of Chelsea for over 300 years), the quiet grandeur of stately red-brick houses with their intricate facades embody the sense that somewhere behind immaculate, mullioned windows, something marvellously scandalous once occurred.

Just around the corner lies 64 Sloane Street, where Austen stayed with her brother Henry. Though refaced in 1897, look back from Hans Street to glimpse the bay of the octagonal room where Eliza once held court in 1811. Today, Sloane Street is haute couture territory –

Dior, Chanel, Gucci – a catwalk of global elegance that somehow retains Chelsea’s charm: polished, yes, but never soulless.

A short skip leads to Pavilion Road, cobbled and closeknit. Here the scent of espresso mingles with sourdough, and greengrocers rub shoulders with cheesemongers and stationers. It’s a village within a city – and a nod to Chelsea’s past as the market garden of London.

Sloane Square marks the border where old-world elegance meets artistic edge. The Royal Court Theatre births bold new plays: Cadogan Hall reverberates with classical music, jazz and all other genres. Here too, one might spot the occasional Sloane Ranger – harking back to their 1980’s heyday when Princess Diana, who taught and shopped nearby, brought glamour to these streets with a shy smile and a sharp shoulder pad.

Wander West to the King’s Road, once a royal thoroughfare, later the playground of Mods, rockers, and punks. In the ‘60’s. Mary Quant’s miniskirts revolutionised fashion; in the ‘70’s. Vivienne Westwood’s boutique ‘Sex’ sent shockwaves through polite society. The road still thrums with creative energy – today a patchwork of high street favourites, independent designers, and buzzy restaurants.

At Duke of York Square, the Saatchi Gallery champions contemporary art and there’s a wonderful public piazza and green for community events, such as complimentary Wimbledon Tennis screenings (mid-July).

Kira Charatan, Archivist & Heritage Marketing Manager, Cadogan

Chelsea’s literary credentials were further honed with A A Milne penning Winnie the Pooh on Mallord Street in 1926, just around the corner from where Ian Fleming dreamed up 007. Chelsea gave us both Pooh Sticks and Pussy Galore – a pairing that only this place could pull off. Meander down Cheyne Walk, where blue plaques compete with doorbells. Mary Shelley, Rossetti, George Eliot – all left their mark, and here the Thames light still echoes Whistler’s silvery tones.

Slip into Carlyle’s House, preserved exactly as the Victorian philosopher Thomas Carlyle left it – inkstained desk and all – a salon that once hosted Dickens, Tennyson, and the London intelligentsia.

Just beyond rises the Royal Hospital, a Sir Christopher Wren masterpiece still home to the red-coated Pensioners. If you’re visiting around 21st June, don’t miss this year’s Waterloo Ball – a dazzling evening honouring the 210th anniversary of the battle, complete with Regency gowns and military splendour. Austen would have swooned.

Chelsea Physic Garden, founded in 1673 is London’s oldest medicinal garden - home to exotic plants and whispering walls that once held the secrets of apothecaries – now offers talks and tours, with a delightful brasserie and shop.

Chelsea rewards the observant explorer. Look up for blue plaques. Peer down mews lanes and listen for wafting music. It’s a place of exquisite contradictions – aristocratic but anarchic, powdered wig and punk Mohawk in thrilling cohabitation.

And it continues to evolve. This September (19th – 21st), the inaugural Chelsea Arts Festival promises a celebration of wonder and creativity – another vibrant thread in its cultural fabric.

Somehow, all of it fits. The serenity of Cheyne Walk and the thrum of the King’s Road. The brass door knockers of Cadogan Square and the ghost of Sid Vicious. Austen, one suspects, would find the whole thing improper – and utterly irresistible. There’s glamour here, yes, but always with a wink – Chelsea knows not to take itself too seriously.

TRAVEL

TRENDS

Want to be first in the know of what UK travellers are seeking this year? Here’s your run down of 2025 Travel Trends…

READING ON HOLIDAY

Relaxing with a book on holiday is also making a comeback, with 90% of holiday readers finishing full books, fuelling strong airport book sales. Why not go one step further and base your travels at the heart of where the magic has happened? Chewton Glen saw part of Children of the New Forest by Frederick Marryat written under its roof, whilst much of the Cotswolds countryside surrounding The Lygon Arms is where JRR Tolkien gleaned inspiration for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Plunge into Oscar Wilde’s world and stay at The Mayfair Townhouse - located on Half Moon Street, where his acclaimed play, The Importance of Being Earnest, was set.

TASTE HUNTING

Deliciously first up, the increasing appetite for culinary tourism, dubbed “Taste Hunting”. With 69% of travellers prioritizing food experiences, this trend continues to grow, helped along by dishes going viral on social media, feeding the traditional travel desire to sample local food markets and tantalising street food. Taste hunting is indeed proving to be an essential part of experiential travel.

ALL-INCLUSIVE

Traditional all-inclusive holidays are also enjoying an increase, especially among millennials and families, valued for their convenience and stress-free planning. Group travel is evolving into “Trip Collectives,” where friends and family coordinate separate bookings to share experiences together. Nowhere does this better than Chewton Glen, with its luxury treehouses offering the perfect independent spaces for extended families to gather and yet have their own space to retreat to. Gather over dinner or in the spa, on the golf course, driving range or for a cookery class, and then seek solace away from it all amongst the trees. Extra activities can be organised with our concierge, such as paddleboarding, kayaking, or sailing on the Solent - the sky’s the limit. Bespoke packages including meals, accommodation and activities are available on request.

TRIVIAL PURSUITS

Travel has always been more about unwinding, although that is still a central theme. The quest to learn new skills whilst away is increasing in popularity, with 70% of travellers wanting to return home having gained new knowledge and skills. Think pottery, foraging, or beekeeping, to name but a few. Chewton Glen offers the chance to hone culinary skills in the The Kitchen Cookery School, or guests can book an art class within the walled garden; equally the property offers a wealth of bookable activities such as horse riding, archery, clay pigeon shooting and axe throwing, should country pursuits appeal whilst staying in the New Forest.

Downtime is precious, whether spent with friends, family, or solo tripping. This year’s trends nod to relaxing downtime coupled with the experiential and authentic, looking to blend social connection, nostalgia, learning, and culinary discovery. And don’t forget to pack a good book, too.
