RAEFGROHNE Despite how young I tell myself I look, the truth is that I’ve been photographing architecture for more than 15 years. It’s a privilege and a constant challenge to shoot what are essentially functional works of art. My job is to find that ideal balance between the big strokes and the fine details, creating a sense of style and intrigue while staying true to how people use the space. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a hotel or a resort, whether it’s residential or commercial; the most important goal always remains the same. That’s to create images that do more than make you want to be there—they make you feel like you actually have been.

I’ve worked all over North America, Hawaii and Thailand, and there are times when the weather and the light and the schedule conflicts all seem to be conspiring against the shot. But the chaos can also be energizing, forcing you to look at things in whole different way, and reminding you of the value of a sense of humour. Anyone who’s ever worked with me will tell you that I’m fanatical about the details. It’s just what it takes to create great images. But I think the real reason I’ve had so many successful shoots over the past 15 years is that I just love my job. I invite you to take a look at the results.

FEATURED PROJECT INN AT THE QUAY Sublime style meets divine comfort at Inn At The Quay, the first and only intimate luxe hotel on the charming Fraser River boardwalk in New Westminster, British Columbia.
