Kids and Chrome Event, Aug. 6

B ikers will once again “Rally for a Reason” for the 2008 Kids and Chrome event that will be held at the Spearfish Holiday Inn and Convention Center Wednesday, Aug. 6.

The Fourth Annual Kids and Chrome event will bring some of the best talent in the motorcycle industry and other bikers together to raise money for the Children’s Home Society and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame. Last year’s event helped raise more than $100,000, with about $70,000 going to the children and $30,000 given to the museum. This year’s event will feature “The Dakota,” a one-off custom bagger built by Tom Binyon, owner of BaggerWorks Custom Touring Motorcycles in Wichita, Kansas Components on the bike include a custom frame by Rolling Thunder Frames, a Matt Risley fuel tank, a custom Perse Performance front end, a special Baker 250 RSD transmission, and a detachable front fairing from Kevin Evans, as well as others. The bike also features a fuel-injected Harley-Davidson 110 inch TwinCam “B” engine built by Black Hills Harley Davidson, and several other Harley Davidson components. “The Dakota” also features Legend Air Suspension, provided by Independent Cycle in Rapid City.
