Dual Language Final Test Administration Protocol 2012-13 Chinese Immersion Classes 1. The YCT test levels will be administered as follows in Chinese: YCT 1 Kinder YCT 2 1st Grade YCT 3 2nd Grade YCT3 3rd Grade YCT 4 4th Grade YCT 4 5th Grade 2. School testing coordinator will check the YCT test/discs in and out according to school protocol. Testing coordinator will send a notice to parents letting them know the schedule for testing. (Window for the YCT is May 20th through the 24th. Teachers may begin the oral test administration prior to the testing window. 3. A proctor will be present the entire testing period to help monitor students and to ensure appropriate testing protocol. 4. Once the test begins, teachers are only to respond/speak in Chinese. Students should be prepared with an explanation of how the test will be administered so that they understand the expectations as well as the nature of the test being all in Chinese. The oral component of the YCT will need to be conducted by two Chinese teachers so that inter-rater reliability is achieved. The two teachers will collaborate to determine the scoring on the assessment. It is recommended that students be pulled individually into a quiet environment. It may be necessary to hire substitute teachers in order to assist with accommodating this testing schedule. The two teachers will collaborate to determine the scoring on the assessment. 5. The test is sent to China for scoring and does not return to us until late in the summer. Please let your parents know that results will not be available until August, 2013. First grade teachers only : You may choose to have your students mark answers on a separate piece paper and then transfer their responses on the bubble answer sheet. This transference must take place under the supervision and guidance of the school testing coordinator.


Dual Language Final Test Administration Protocol 2012-13 Spanish Wood-cock Munoz. 1. The Wood-cock Munoz will be administered to the Spanish Kinder and 1st grade students this school year. 2. The Bilingual Liaison will check out the test to the teachers. Only the reading, writing, listening and speaking sections of the test will be completed. This will allow us to have a composite level score. 3. Please send home a note to parents advising of the testing dates prior to the testing window. Results will go home to parents with the last report card of the year. Please make copies for your records and files. 4. Complete the spreadsheet and forward to the principal and to Dr. Sheppard before the end of the school year. 5. Testing should be conducted at the same time or near the same time as the YCT Chinese test. Window is May 20th through the 24th. 6. Testing each student takes approximately 25 minutes (depending on their level of proficiency.) You may ask your bilingual liaison to assist you in the scoring and reporting of this assessment. 7.
