a new treatment. We held an auction and social evening in Arklow Bay Hotel on 21st January 1997. Everything from calves, heifers, embryos, feed ration, diesel oil, a lamb ready for the freezer, logs, etc. and even 6 sheepdog pups were generously donated. The auctioneer, Mr. Colin Johnson, very generously volunteered his services. It was a mammoth task with members from not only our Friesian club but also Friesian clubs from all parts of the country giving their support. Space and time only permits to give a brief overview of the history of the Slaney Club and in particular the people whose efforts have made us what we are today. It becomes startlingly evident when you begin to recall past names and events in the club, that you only realise how greatly the club has grown from strength to strength throughout the last 40 years. Looking at the faces of some our very young YMA members, we hope that in years to come they will be the ones looking back fondly on the last 80 years of the club.
