There is one thing that we could do good to learn in our own life. What I am talking about is the fact that life experiences change us and make us think, act, and feel differently than before. What you might be thinking is that there is no way we can be changed by a "life experience". Well I have two little examples from some good books of mine that will change your mind about that.

First example, For those of you who have read it remember in The adventures of Tom Sawyerby Mark Twain when he was painting the fence? For those who are lost, there is a scene where Tom (the main character) is painting a fence on a Saturday we can all see that he hates it but the gears in his clever little mind start working and he soon figures out that by making...show more content...

The book "Home" is our next example that we will be taking from. Okay now I am going to tell you about the book so we are starting on the same foot, if have already read the book I don't care just skip this part. So the father in the book has a little problem his son is smoking and he gets those cigars by stealing them from his father so when he calls his son in to have a talk with him about stealing and smoking his son will not listen to him and acts like it is no big deal. The father soon figures out that if he wants to get through to his son he needs to be simple and naive. He achieves this by telling his son a story about a kingdom that fell apart because one man smoked. He learned that children think simply and don't understand the disciplining that adults use. He now understands his son better and could teach him the right and wrongs of the world. Now some of may be saying " okay you convinced me but Tom's change seemed bad while the father in Homes change seemed good so do life experiences work both ways". Well whether the change is good or bad is a whole different dog collar that can be talked about at a later time. But I can say that Tom's change was most defiantly bad because he can now talk people into doing his work or doing something dumb while on the other hand the fathers change was good, he could now understand his son and other

My Life Experience

The journey of life is like the art of weaving tapestry. Each life experience is like a thread of color; some experiences are as vibrant as fuscia, some serene as cyan, some deep as maroon, while some as bleak as charcoal. Each relationship is like the crossing of threads, weaving together a patterned piece of embroidery, creating a work unique in texture, pattern and expression. Firstly, I spent my formative years under the identity of an immigrant from a small, homogenous town in the Philippines to the big, melting pot city of San Francisco. My family relocated to pursue the American dream with both of my hardworking parents juggling two jobs that successfully sent seven of their kids through school. I roamed around my neighborhood where in the same side of the street you can stumble upon a local Jewish deli layering the most mouthwatering sandwiches, a hole–in–the–wall Filipino stand dishing up the cheapest comfort food, and a popular Mexican canteen offering a loaded carne asada burrito with a side of live mariachi band. This is the diverse neighborhood I grew up in, where I learned basic geometry, studied the four layers of the earth and played schoolyard kickball with my fellow peers and friends sent to the same district school. Many exposures to other people, races, and cultures, were realized in these years adding layers of thread to the loom of life. One of the most impactful of these discoveries came from room 201, fourth period, life science class at James

Life is full of exciting experiences for us to enjoy. However, these experiences are meant to teach life lessons that should remain with us. In my 17 years of living, I have had many lessons to be learned from events I have gone through. One of those lessons sticks out above the rest and it has a humorous story to go along with it. The story starts out with the group planning a get together while eating breakfast at Mcdonald's. Ideas were flowing out of our heads like a river. We could not agree on a plan of action for the longest time. Finally, it was decided that we should go to Kenzie's house after she said her dad would cook for us. I was immediately down for that idea because I knew her dad makes the best chicken wings ever. The rest of the day for me was spent thinking about what to wear that night. Eventually, the time came for heading over to Kenzie's house. Bailey, another girl in the group, asked me to give her a ride since she did not have her driver's license. Because of this, we were one of the last ones to make it to Kenzie's. In the time that we missed the group decided that they wanted to go and toilet paper some of our friend's houses that lived close to Kenzie. I had never done something like this before. However, the excitement of doing this and avoid being caught appealed to me. We all piled into the cars and headed to Wal–Mart to buy the toilet paper. We had an interesting event that happened to us while we were in Wal–Mart. The event was when Get more content

My life, or perhaps in the manner that I perceive it, has been overwhelmingly filled with enlightening and repressive circumstances that could have been averted, but all in all, makes up one's destiny. These events intricately tailored me into a young man that grew conscientious of the detrimental behavior of "acting before thinking" and into the realm of "thinking before acting". What I would soon come to understand was that through sheer patience, and trial–and–error it instilled within me new insights to learn from and that the most triumphant moments in my life began at the crossroads of unknowingness, a decision to stay in mediocrity, or the pursuit towards personal greatness– thus the decision had to be met.

In the fall season of 2006, I was a student at Saint John Vianney, a relatively small parochial school. During that time period, I was an immensely nervous 6th grader that was forced to immerse himself into a Roman Catholic private school that had me sharply at odds with what I had experienced from schooling in the Folsom Cordova Unified public–school district (Kindergarten to 5th grade). It's important to know that I was sent here by my parents as a way of disciplining me due to, in their opinion, abhorrent behavior that medically could have stemmed from ADD, but perhaps I was just restless and explorative. The very first moment I shared with another soul was by the connective link of vision with a female student, by the name of Scarlett. This young girl (of Get more content

My Experience In My Life

Life is a journey and I wasted part of it. My freshmen year I was thinking the same thing that the vast majority of other high school students were, "When does school end?" This attitude, where I prioritized personal entertainment and immediate satisfaction as a priority over the hypothetical bump in the road that I chose to ignore, is what led me to get a ~2.3 GPA my freshman and sophomore year. I spent my after school hours spending as much time playing video games as I could and trying to put in as little effort as I could into school while still getting a grade that would not completely disappoint my family. According to source 1, "about 25% of freshmen fail to graduatehigh school on time." I was on that path. During my summer after sophomore year, I decided to start looking into colleges and what requirements they had to enroll, and I was shocked at what I found. I found that in my position I would not enroll in the large majority of the universities that peaked my interests. It was this sudden realization that hit me, like a tsunami of life crashing down on me, making me realize that I was wasting my potential and making things more difficult for myself. I had always been so wrapped up in the quests that were made for me in the games that I played, that I became heedless to the most epic quest of all, such being the quest of life. I believe that my realization that my future depends upon the decisions I make, what I wanted from my future, and how close it really is

My Life Experience

Each day we all experience things that are extraordinary and sometimes unforgettable. Yet it's how we let those experiences impact us individually that makes us each unique. An experience in my life that changed how I acted, thought, and felt was the first time I volunteered at my church during their summer "scamp" sessions. The "scamp" sessions aimed to make the lessons correlate to things the kids would do during summer camps. Serving at one of these session allowed the year round volunteers to continue serving if they wanted, but also have the ability to take a vacation and enjoy the church's service. Although life offers a multitude of life changing experiences, serving at Mecklenburg Community Church for the first time was greatest experience because I gained connections in my community, learned strong leadership skills and gained a desire to serve others first. It all began when I attended my first "scamp" session and I had several opportunities for jobs outside of the church over the summer and translating into the school year. The first time I served at Meck I was able to meet and be introduced to three families at the church who later reached out to me for weekly opportunities to work with their kids. In seeing the kids both in and outside of church over the summer "scamps" I gained more insight of their lives and personalities. One specific family that I met the first time I volunteered was the Harris family. I made a close bond with their youngest daughter

Life Experience

On the other hand the first statement I choose that exemplifies my life experience is "I feel attracted and drawn or called to a spiritual journey" (Atchley, 2009, p. 64). There may be a stage in an individual's life where they can be unfulfilled with the direction of their personal trajectory. I genuinely believe that the contemporary main–stream society we reside in places too much emphasis upon the pursuit/accumulation of material possessions, endeavoring to maintain a youthful appearance, the acceptance of self–indulgence and completely removing God from our daily lives. I perceive that without engaging in God's will and by assisting one another an individual can attain meaning and purpose in their life. In addition by aiding other people who may need assistance an individual is not primarily contemplating upon their problems but instead placing the cares and concerns of others before their own. The class literature articulated that: "something happens to create an opening, an invitation that may come in many forms: an experience that suggests we are not who were though we were, feeling homesick for a place we don't recall being before or an experience of an alternative universe in our consciousness" (Atchley, 2009, p. 64). Therefore people that have converted to Christianity may perceive that this physical plane is not their long–term residence and that it is a temporary destination and our permanent home is residing with God in heaven for all eternity. I believe

Essay On My Life Experience

Life Experience, Education, and Volunteer Experience To begin, the desire I have to be admitted into Boise State University's online graduate social work program is strong, and the fire behind my desire was lit long ago. I haven't always known how to label my desired career path, let alone the correct educational path to take to lead me to a life of helping others; but here I am today, an optimistic young woman with a few years of life experience and a college degree under my belt; ready to commit to a graduate program that will give me the tools and advanced knowledge necessary to follow my dream of becoming a licensed social worker. To dive into the most personal reason as to why I wish to be accepted into Boise State's graduate social work program, I'd like to start with my childhood. I grew up in a traditional, loving and embracing home that had its fair share of chaos. My father, who will soon celebrate his tenth year of sobriety, struggled with alcoholism anddrug addiction since long before I was ever blessed with life. He was what my family would call a 'functioning addict', as he was a semi–proactive father and husband who always had a job, but not typically for more than a year at a time, and most people who were new to meeting him had no idea he struggled with such battles. My family was put through a lot to say the least and the same goes for my parent's marriage. As a young girl with even younger siblings and a mother who was trying to maintain her marriage, family and career with an addict for a spouse, I inherently took on the role of being the head of the household when my father was inebriated and my mother was working. I felt no pressure from my mother to aid in household chores, ensure that my siblings ate dinner and stay occupied away from our dad when he was drunk and unable to tend to them. My mother would actually prefer that I not help my dad to the bathroom or bed when he was incapable of doing it himself without getting hurt along the way, as it was "not a daughter's job". But I couldn't help it, as much disappointment my heart had from broken promises of sobriety and empty apologies, I knew in my heart that if I never gave up on him, he would never give up on himself. Now

My life has been a crazy roller coaster with many events that have affected my life all in different ways. There have been times where my life has been at its highest peak in the world then it falls down, right into a deep valley. From the time my lovable younger sister came into my life to when my grandpa had a near death experience, I have learned many valuable lessons through the rough times as well as the more happy times. When I was a young girl, my mom had always told me the same thing over and over again. I never really thought about how a few words would have a deep effect on me in a short amount of time. I was around 8 or 9 when my mom first told me "Don't take anyone for granted." I sat in my bedroom and looked at my mom extensively asking her "What do you mean?." Sitting in the beige colored room with the glowing light pointing towards her, I questioned her for a good couple minutes. Being the little girl I was, I didn't know what the immense word "granted" meant. After the short and quick conversation with my mom, the words she said had been stuck in the back of mind for a long time. The saying popped up in my mind here and there, but it has not effected me at least not yet. Over the summer my grandpa decided to go to Vietnam to visit somefamily he hadn't seen in a long time. Prior to going, he knew his health wasn't in the best condition but he still vowed to go. Once there, he began to feel very sick. Days went by since my family has heard from him until

My Life Experience Essay

A Life Experience of a Traveler

What can you do without family?

A traveler took a magic journey to meet different source of people. He met a beautiful child, a handsome boy, a young man in love, a father, mother, and children. He had the chance to learn life experiences from each one of them, and used the experience to advise himself and others. The idea of experiencing through life can extend from generation to generation. Something that can be utilize in history, from achildhood to an adult.

The main exhibition is, a child will be born to become adult to have his or her own children, and will become parents, and parents will now become grandparents. So, the children, who are now adults, get the chance to take care of their parents, who are now grandparent to the children. That's how life goes. Whatever was done to a child, will also be done to grandparents, ("Dickens" 1–3).

The area he travels through, was a dark path for a while, and then he came path to a beautiful child, handsome boy and a young man. The sky was so blue, and the sun was so bright. The weather changes from summer to winter constantly, through the entire time he spent with them.. He also met the middle–aged gentleman in summer, but his journey was through the forest. The forest were open and green at first, like a wood in spring; and now began to be thick and dark, like a wood in summer (" Dickens" 1–2).

During the journey, he explains how he met a beautiful child, who taught him how to play, and

Life Experience Essay

As I look back on the unforgettable week I had during the Habitat 62 trip, I can honestly say that the trip changed the way I looked at college and West Virginia University overall. My favorite parts of the trip were of course helping others who are less fortunate than myself and the adventures, but mainly the "class" that was held every night. I joined the adventure trip believing I was just going to help build a house and have fun rock climbing, exploring, and white–water rafting. I slowly realized that I would learn so much more. Adventure West Virginiataught me life–long lessons that could help save not only my life one day, but maybe even one of my best friends or a random stranger I had never met before. I believed, like most high school students and people in general around the world, that at West Virginia UniversityI was going to find a party in every direction I looked with many of my own peers drinking alcohol. The perspective view I had before the trip and after were completely opposite. I found out on the trip that I can find parties if I feel the need to, but overall there are plenty of activities to do besides partying and drinking. I originally thought that I was going to struggle heavily to write the amount advised for the journal entries at the end of every day.

On my way home from adventure, I had one of those moments were out of nowhere there is an overwhelming sensation or feeling that you forgot something. I had forgot my journal in the adventure

My Life Experience Essay

I am no different, or any better than anyone else, however, my unique life experiences have provided me with a profound level of understanding and acceptance. While I believe that our life experiences do not determine, or define who we are as individuals, I do believe that these experiences and the teachings they hold, sculpt who we become and the ways in which we approach life and interact with others). It is such experiences that allow us to create a deeper connection and profound understanding to the various pieces of life and the lives of others that often go unseen. It is for this reason, I am pursuing an (education?) in the masters of social work program, so that I may couple my experience with education to further my understanding of others and the tools necessary to support them, creating change, and re–sculpting the pieces that have... My mother was a big proponent of helping and supporting others, spending four year in Honduras, as a peace corp volunteer where she not only gained exposure/ an understanding of poverty and culture, but met and married my father. While in Honduras, my mother who at the time was pregnant with me decided to move back to the Salt Lake City. While it's hard to say, what would have happened if she would have stayed and gave birth to me in Honduras, this decision would come with unforeseen consequences, and blessings that will forever impact my life. Once in the United States, my mother worked at a local grocery store, and my father worked as a dishwasher in numerous restaurants in Salt Lake, while attending English classes at South High School. With my father being an immigrant for a violent third world country, I learned quickly at a young age the discrimination and stereotypes that we as a society place on others. However, I also learned (was taught)? the significance of accepting people for who they are. My father whose mother died when he was the age of two, was orphaned by his father, and left in the care of his four older brothers, impacted my father on numerous level. These pieces guided my father's parenting and influence my mother's parenting as well as the values within the home. While many of the values in our home stemmed from the Latino culture, majority of them

My Life Experience Essay

Hi Jerald, I found your paper interesting and agree to that life experiences are also important. As a healthcare professional, I have worked with people from all educational level and found that the highest education and best performance does not go hand in hand. An example would be a registerednurse with Masters degree, who needs to call the Vocational nurse without a degree to insert an IV catheter. Conversely, education is also important. Between the same nurses, the one with Masters might recognize a patient crises when it comes to electrolyte imbalance and notifies the physician in a timely

Life Experiences In My Life

Everyone has life experiences that had shaped who they are in the present day. Some people encounter situations where the sophistication inspires them to achieve better quality in life or the undergoing is too depressing and then individuals commence to expect nothing marvelous to transpire from their experiences. With this in mind, the empiricism of the individuals could cause a positive or a negative on their lives and passion for excellence. All experiences should be uplifting to a person's dedication to be successful in life. For me, the life experiences that always kept me going and shaped the person that I am today were my mother's work ethic, my medical issues, and my high school years. My mother's work ethic was always extraordinary encouraging and energizing. She inspires me to have the same attitude towards college as she did towards work .She gets up on time by setting her alarm clock every night before going to sleep. Also, she makes sure that her children get up on time to go to school, so she sets their alarm clock too. Additionally, she has a positive thinking strategy towards going to work every day and sometimes even every night when she works overtime at her job. She envisions working as a life experience and never thought of it as nudnik, even though work could be a very boring place to be. However, she always encourages her children to acquire a sturdy education in order to be successful in life. She motivates us by explaining her life story of the struggles of growing up without a father as a child and how she wants us to never go thought the difficult experiences that she went thought. Every day she kisses and tell us to have a good day and learn as much as we could learn. To conclude, my mother's work attitude will always prompt me to achieve a better quality in life, but my medical issues also play a sockdolager role in my life experiences. Most of my medical issues are very dreadful to undergo and overcome. Growing up as a disabled child with a tracheostomy and a gastrostomy tube, my medical life experiences had its twists and turns. For example, about nine years ago, I had to get a major surgery on my face were the doctors had to insert pins into my jawbones because I

Although my life has only been a short sequence of fifteen years, I've come to heartily believe that life is only as good as what you make it. The effort I put in to be a good person has truly affected the outlook I have on life due to personal karma. These life lessons have recently come to my best attention and interests. True colors have surfaced immensely during the past two years that I have taken on the combats of high school friendships, relationships, and learning self–worth. Despite the pity I have thrown before, I can now boast with purpose, the distinctive endeavors I have overcome. Lessons learned from these hardships have taught me that the more I go through young, will have been worthwhile and much appreciated as I grow older. Distancing yourself from someone you were once so attached to, when it is not your choice to abandon the relationship, can strip you of your pride and confidence. However, I believe this is only an inconvenience that is undergone when depending on other people for support rather than putting oneself first. When a person who has so much of your time and respect leaves your life, it is usual to feel unanchored. At first, I always felt like someone should feel bad for me and that other people were responsible for how I felt. I put my feelings onto other people. For some reason, I thought that because I was miserable, the people around me didn't deserve to be happy either. I was selfish and didn't know how to control my emotions. I was in
