Growth and change for Westerheide Construction Company Westerheide Construction Company went through some exciting changes in 2012. As of September 2012 ownership was p a s s e d Westerheide from Tom Westerheide to his son Jay Westerheide. As part of the transition, the company name was

changed from Westerheide Developers Inc. back to Westerheide Construction Company which is the name the founder, Alfred (AJ) Westerheide, started with in 1952. “The name change more accurately describes the core of the business, which is ‘Construction’ rather than ‘Developers,’” said Jay Westerheide. “Although there are still development projects done by the Westerheide family,

they are done under new companies that have been formed for that specific purpose, like M&W Development and Fountainhead Investments, LLC.” His report continues: Since the beginning of Westerheide Construction Company, it has been known as a premier contractor for residential homes. And during the past 20 years they have also excelled in light commercial projects like professional of-

fices, medical buildings and financial institutes. Today the company has grown and expanded its services into industrial and government markets as well. They have taken on larger projects and acquired a pre-engineered metal building supplier to help service these markets. In fact due to the sluggish residential market, 80 percent of WCC’s sales are coming from either new construction or renovations in the commercial,

industrial, institutional and government markets. Some of the customers served in 2012 were Auglaize County Millwork for Courthouse Renovation, Parkway Schools - Stadium Building, Mercer County ESC, Logan County Fairgrounds, Emerson Climate Technologies, Wilson Memorial Hospital, Piqua High School and Perry Township. Westerheide Construction looks to continue its growth in

commercial, industrial, institutional and government work as well as maintaining its reputation as a premier residential contractor. WCC anticipates the upcoming year to be much like the past few years. Work will be scarce and the competition fierce. But with the ability to bid all types of construction projects Westerheide Construction is optimistic that it can remain a stable company with modest growth.

state of Ohio as well as eastern Indiana. The majority of their projects are located between Findlay, Dayton, and Columbus corridor. The second generation Andy and Mike Cotterman acquired full ownership in 2009 from Max R. Cotterman, their father and founder. The company

has continued substantial growth since the transaction. “We continue to operate under the core principles Max practiced. I believe this directly impacts our quality level of installations, which has lead to our success in the roofing industry. In addition to that, the hard work and dedication of the individual team members culminates, creating a winning recipe,” said Mike Cotterman. In 2012 Cotterman & Company received the most prestigious recognition in the commercial roofing industry. See COTTERMAN/Page 12
