As the New York Islanders do not have a tangible mascot or nickname, the best representation of the team would be a hockey player. To create a ferocious and athletic appearance, the player is placed in the center of the shield. The shield was also chosen to represent the unity and strength of the team. Lastly, the background of the shield has the Long Island skyline to represent the city that is so close to the team’s fans’ hearts.

PROJECT:BRIEF As the New York Islanders do not have a tangible mascot or nickname, the best representation of the team would be a hockey player. To create a ferocious and athletic appearance, the player is placed in the center of the shield. The shield was also chosen to represent the unity and strength of the team. Lastly, the background of the shield has the Long Island skyline to represent the city that is so close to the team’s fans’ hearts. As for the colors, I chose the same prominent two that the Islanders currently use, however I added two tints of the blue to add a gradient and contrast between the image and the background. I also chose the font NFL Browns 2015 as the main typeface because it gives off an athletic and strong feeling for the brand. For all other content besides the logo, the designer should use some form of Avenir Next to make the text readable for the viewer.
